The place is in a strip-mall with misleading signage and cramped parking. The expectation it sets is that the food would be bland and far from authentic. But the looks are very deceiving. The food is rich, authentic and flavorful. The proportions are a bit...above average but not obnoxious. The butter chicken is creamy with coconut milk flavor, rich, complex and deeply satisfying. The tandoori chicken parts are a little under sized and very dry but the naan is hearty and addictively subtle. Some of the entrees are overly saucy and lacking in meat but overall it is well worth getting take out. I would avoid eating in because the place appears to be sort of under construction or maybe just highly unorganized.More

I have been very fortunate in my life to have done a lot of traveling. Growing up in the UK 🇬🇧. I grew up eating a lot of amazing Indian food. After introducing my know wife to Indian food, & finding out she likes it...as much I I do. When we visit new places, & have to time. We try to seek out a Indian restaurant. So on are resent visits to Harrisonburg Virginia. We found the Taste of Indian. Inside the restaurant is very authentic, the chairs look like they came from Indian. The menu has all the usual items. We started with Vegetable Samosas. (Excellent). For are main courses. I had the Chicken Korma. Medium spicy. Little kick on the back side. The sauce was very creamy, with nice white pieces of chicken. My wife had Chicken Tikka Masala, (her go to) she was very pleased & claimed it was the best she had had since we eat in New York. Quite the complement. That was almost 30yrs ago, & we have eaten a lot of Indian since then. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. For any fan of this style of ethnic food. It’s a must. 👍👍More

We enjoyed our visit. It was Christmas eve and the restaurant was open for lunch and dinner. The owner was really nice. They had lunch specials. We got tadka dal which is a lentil stew which was tasty, spinach with cottage cheese which was delicious...and chicken tikka masala which was nicely done as well. It was all served with rice and we ordered naan on the side. We also requested a side of yogurt. We got gulab jamun and rasmalai for dessert. Everything was very well done. Its a good size restaurant. The restrooms could be better maintained.More

In the mood for some Indian food, so we gave Taste of India a try. My wife ordered Dal Tadka, which she said was fantastic and I had the Tandori Mixed Grill, which was also fantastic. In addition, I had a mango Lassi, and we...shared an order of Vegetable Samosas and Onion Kulcha, all so wonderful. Food served in a reasonable time. Not a issue with the quantity or quantity of the food. Now for the service. We asked for straws for our water twice and when the server brought out the straws, they were thrown onto the table. The server seem to be angered by something. We asked for refills on our water and had to ask twice. After finishing our meal, we waited approximately 15 minutes before anyone came around. We requested a box for our leftovers and the bill. Another 10 minutes went by and no one showed up. I went to the other section of the restaurant and again requested a box and the bill. A short time after retuning to the table, we received the box and bill. There was only one other table with customers in the restaurant at that time. Due to the bad service, we will not be returning to this restaurant.More

First, service was slow even with a lot of open tables. Don't go if you are in any kind of hurry. Anyway my wife got mango lamb and I got chicken tikka masala. She liked mine more than hers, although I thought hers was quite...good. As for mine, it was good and also distinct - I've had tikka masala in restaurants that tasted like what comes out of jars. The lunch buffet here remains the best in town. The food is obviously made with love, homecooked Indian food. Has a large variety of foods as well!

This is good resturant servering authentic tasty food, that i visited more than once whilst in the area. One minor point is that i don't always have a rice dish with a curry and instead prefer nan, but one has no choice because rice served...by default (though i understand this is the case for many indian eateries). There should always be a choice which thus means i can enjoy more than a single curry.More

We were in Harrisonburg for the Labor Day weekend, and went there for lunch, it had a 9 $ buffet, which is pretty cheap,(I m from Texas, where buffets are double that!) but don’t expect anything special, food is okay at the best, very few...choices, you get what you pay for.More

Taste of India is my go-to place for a quick lunch. Unlike most great LOCAL restaurants in town, they're open 7 days a week. I love their $8.95 lunch buffet— it's SUCH a great deal for an all-you-can-eat venture into Indian cuisine. I never thought that you would have a good Indian restaurant in Hburg, VA. I am glad I was wrong. We were travelling back to NoVa from Smokeys and decided to stop here for dinner. The service was good and the food was actually tasty....The Thali had good quantity and lamb curry was tasty. The chicken biryani was tasty but I would not call it a biryani, it was TAWA Chicken Pulao but it was very tasty. The chicken entree was really good tooMore

Good service, delicious food served in a nice way. Went there after biking (pedal bike) all day - walked away nourished with happy taste buds. They have take-out, too
