Celebrated our wedding anniversary here. Many terrific seafood entrées - beef and lamb choices are not so special (and the lamb is for two only). There are certainly pricier restaurants around that may justify high prices for what you are offered, but you won't find...More

We're long-time fans of the Auberge restaurant, but decided it was time to try the Auberge's (relatively) new(ish) bistro located downstairs from the main restaurant. It's open for brunch on weekends, but is usually open only in the evenings. The bistro is slightly more casual--...More

Food was amazing as was the service. we went for lunch... 4 courses plus a glass of wine for $43.00 each. I had the mussels with garlic butter for an appetizer and the calf's liver for my lunch. Both were to die for. This place...More

We have eaten here 4 times, twice for wedding anniversaries and twice for birthdays. The food and service here must rate with the best French restaurants in France. In truth while I have visited France six times, I cannot recall any restaurant that compares L...More

If you want to be transported to Alsace without the hassle of long airplane flights---this is still the place! In the main dining room the extensive menu seduces, and the prix-fixe is a solid choice. Jacques Brasserie is an incredible bargain for incredible food.

It had been a couple of years since we last ate here, and it's still wonderful. I love the relaxing but special country French atmosphere and the exemplary service. When I was debating between a couple of entrees, appetizers and desserts, our waiter had excellent...More

We had a small group of 14 neighbors who had lunch at this fabulous establishment on Tuesday. The food, ambiance, and service were fabulous. Everyone agreed that we must come back as a group annually. I have told several personal friends about it and I...More

All show and no go. Everything ok, nothing great, nothing to write home about. Half my meat was tough, wife's fish was ok. Service and hospitality great, dining area dingy. Seem to be riding the wave of their past glory. Quality doesn't live up to...More

Everything about our time at L'Auberge Chez Francois was perfect. The ambience, service and the food ,oh the food! Whether upstairs in the main dining room or downstairs at the Brassiere everything is superb. Ending the evening at the fire pit with a cocktail was...More

Is there a dress code? I'm going to be visiting downtown DC most of the day and won't really have a place to change.

Dressy casual will be ok. You will see most men in sports coats. It is not a pretentious place but the clientele tend to dress out of tradition and respect for quality of the place
Is it still run by the family Haeringer? Is the current chef a member of the family Haeringer or is he/she trained by M. Haeringer. I have eaten at your restaurant perhaps 6-10 times over the past 20-25 years and I think it is indeed a splendid venue for superb food. However, I have upcoming a major date in my life and plan a family dinner chez vous on November 11th. I would like to be certain that things are still as they were when M. Haeringer reigned supreme!

Hi. Unfortunately, I do know know whether the establishment is still run by the Haeringer family. I can only say that my last two experiences dining there (over the past two years) have been exceptional. I wish I could... More
Is it still run by the family Haeringer? Is the current chef a family member of M. Haeringer or is he/she trained by M. Haeringer. Finally, I note that in the past 25 years I have probably dined at your restaurant 6-10 times and I have been overjoyed with the food on each occasion. Now, I am planning to have a very major dinner chez nous on November 11th (our 50th wedding anniversary is there next day) and i want to be sure that nothing has changed very much in the way of the excellence of food preparation! Thank you for your kind and earnest reply! Stephen N. Rous

We had a not so great evening. It was mainly our server and the situation was taken care of. It was an anomaly I'm sure. Jacque is the son of the original owner. I'm sure celebrating a big event at Chez Francois will be... More
