The old diner feel is real and makes you feel like a step back in time, but of course Al's has been in South Burlington a while. Food was great. Philly cheese steak was one of the best around and of course the fries were fantastic. Portions especially fries were large. Order stand/counter style with a moderate wait while the... More

How and why is this place a hit? A McDonald's happy meal is larger than the standard meal here. TINY food, pay for certain condiments and a school cafeteria vibe. Not impressed at all..booth chairs are worn and torn as well, worst of all, I left hungry.

2 Words of warning: 1) No table service and not a traditional diner. This is all about burgers and frys. 2) Be prepared to queue and wait for food before taking a seat, like McDonalds. Had good word of mouth so popped in for cheeseburgers and fries. This place is always packed so time your visit well. It gets superbusy... More

Good basic fare at a reasonable price. Great fries, friendly staff, and a good selection of fast food.

Really nice diner decor especially at night with all the neon lights. Friendly staff and customers best to go late night when not so busy. Fri afternoon at lunch they were slammed with several bus loads of high school kids. I did not even attempt to wait in line. Night before had a plain haddock fish fry which had been... More

It is wonderful to have a place where the entire family can relax and enjoy. We had a toddler with us and she had a wonderful time. Good food, friendly staff, nice environment.

THE best fries in the world; best with white vinegar. Great creamies during the Summer months as well as outside tables to relax.

Burgers and Frys [sic] are delicious. Place is seriously old skool. Amazing place for unusual people watching!

I hate reading glowing reviews of a place then discovering $10 later that it's nothing special. Really small unimpressive burgers, extra charge for things as simple as lettuce and tomato, and brown gravy instead of my-preference cream gravy to go with the fries. One and done for me.
