Our meal could not have been better - great atmosphere, friendly service - and terrific food. We both ordered the fennel encrusted pork chops and loved every bite. Chef Nathan has a magic touch with whatever he prepares and the menu changes depending on the fresh food that is available. Several weeks ago I had the mushroom risotto which was... More

Consistently good food, if occasionally a little dark of flavour. I have had some excellent and creative meals here - the kitchen is young but skilled, honing their craft well. The service is always thoughtful and discrete. It is always a pleasure.

The food is lovingly prepared. The mission, while noble is never foisted upon you. Better than anything you will find down the road in Brattlleboro. Really worth a detour

The Gleanery has become my "go to" restaurant, especially if I have friends visiting from away. Everything about The Gleanery, from the warm greeting by Liz and her staff, to the charming ambiance of the old Tavern Building to the truly delicious and creative meal offerings makes it, in my opinion, the best restaurant in Southern VT. The fact that... More

We have been to The Gleanery on several occasions when visiting our daughter and then fiancé after they had moved to Bellows Falls a year ago. I always intended to write a review but alas never did. In our 5 or 6 visits to the restaurant this past year we thoroughly enjoyed every dish we had. The menu is always... More

Dining at The Gleanery is a totally perfect Vermont experience. The historic tavern is warm and chic with a clean decor that offers comfort. Both a Sunday Brunch and an evening dinner are presented as a gift for the eye and, even better, a treat for the palate. Each course is original yet familiar in flavor, pleasing both the adventurous... More

We had a sublime lunch at this charming Colonial-era tavern seated under original 200+ year old beams and next to 3-foot wide, old-growth pine panels. What eye-candy, as was the cuisine. Our Eggplant-Tomato Bolognese Wrapped in House-Made Basil Pasta and it was to die-for. For dessert we had house-made Blueberry Ice Cream and Flourless Chocolate Cake with Candied Fennel-- a... More

It was late, about 8:30 PM, and we were looking for a place to eat when we came upon the Gleanery. It was a very pleasant surprise, a restaurant with a unique menu and farm to table goodness. They have both indoor an outdoor seating and a gift shop that contains locally made crafts. A meal with wine, appetizer, entrée... More

As a vegetarian only in town for one night, I decided to treat myself to the Gleanery, and I was not disappointed. Even the summer salad was special, as was the maple bourbon creme brulee. The chard gnocchi itself was a little bland, but the corn creme and arugula on it were amazing, and the novelty of the dish made... More
