Chef Robert and his staff do a fantastic job. Been here many times. Everything is wonderful. Have never been disappointed with a single dish.

As I was planning a trip through Vermont this summer, I made sure to include a stop at Café Provence on my itinerary. Presided over by Chef Robert Barral, formerly the Executive Chef of the New England Culinary Institute, Café Provence offers solid food in a classic Vermont setting. Unfortunately, I did not visit on a day during which Chef... More

An earlier review on this place was headed by the comment, “Oh the things you’ll find in small town VT!” That is so very true! This restaurant came as a real surprise (Vermont is full of them!). The owner is French and of course he has adapted the menu to fit American tastes and appetites; he wouldn’t survive long in... More

Ate here twice. First visit, food was real nice. Second visit, not so much. For a small town like Brandon, it was surprising to find a restaurant like this though. Chef seemed to be inventive and served a number of unexpected dishes. Service was good. Pricing a bit on the high side.

Nice setting, somewhat interesting menu, but not what we expected from a French chef. Espresso machine broken! Weak American coffee instead.

asked a local (which we usually do with great results) cafe provence was highly recommended. couldn't get a table until 8:30 on a thurs evening. For such a small country town it was a surprise to get such a great French Bistro there. Prices were very reasonable and even the house wine was very good. Would highly recommend even traveling... Staying in Killkington for a fall weekend with friends. This is a 1/2 hour drive but worth it. I started with an escargot napolean. The excargot were tender and lightly seasoned. The greens were fresh and tasty. For my main course I had barley risotto wrapped in filol. Very interesting and a generous portion. The wine list is weak, but... More

Brandon is a very cute little town about 20 miles north of Rutland. There seems to be great young chefs all over central Vt and this place has one. We tried the house Bloody Mary's and they were great. We went for a little Sunday lunch and really enjoyed our meals. I had the seafood stew which was rich and... More

Good food and wine selection. The soups were really great and the entrees were worth the visit. Nice wine selections, too. The menu is typical for Vermont - full of fresh, local ingredients and mostly organic. A nice foodie experience! It is not inexpensive - lunch was 2 glasses of wine, 2 soups and 2 entrees = $65 + tip.

Stopped in here for lunch and we are glad we did. My wife had the vegetable wrap and it was perfect. Fresh and lightly sautéed vegetables in a grilled wrap garnished with a small salad, just perfect. I had the fish and chips. Very nicely presented, cooked perfectly with a side of seasoned fries. The portion was a little small... More

Warm and inviting, casual fine dining at Café Provence is a truly memorable experience. Located in the restored historic section of downtown Brandon, Vermont—Chef Robert Barral, former Executive Chef of the New England Culinary Institute and The Four Seasons in Boston, crafts our seasonal menu to showcase not only his talents as a chef, but also highlight the best meats, cheeses, and vegetables that local farms have to offer.
