Wow! Best BBQ ever! Worth the wait in line. You can call in your order, give them a pickup time and skip the line but you better call before 11am

Stopped by chance and glad I did. Good prices, easy to find and good food. They do run out sometimes, so make your decision quick.

I am working my way through Texas Monthly's 50 Best BBQ Joints... In the World list. I stopped to Zimmerhanzels for lunch and found a typical Texas BBQ cafe ( which I love) with a serving line at the back. I told the young man serving me that I may never make it back to Zimmerhanzels again so please serve... More

Not worth the drive anymore. If you can't make it homemade then don't make it at all. Anybody can go to HEB and buy Cole slaw and potato salad . They have Bbq too.

Was in mood for some Central Texas BBQ was in Smithville and thought Zimmerhanzels. Around lunch and not long line so I decided to have special smoked Pork Chop lunch as brilliantly displayed on menu board adjacent to line. Asked for Pork Chop and was told they were out, but the sign says it was there absolute best choice for... More

The restaurant closed at Christmas and sold. It opened under the new owners last week and is awful. It was the best Bar-B-Que in Texas and they have ruined it. The sauce is loaded with black pepper, the slaw is bland the beans ok but the potato salad is the worst of all. I would guess the bought it, premade... More

Sorry to see the place close. They did have excellent BBQ and at a good price. The brisket and sausage were my favorites. I was just there this this past month, Feb 2016, and it was still closed. The only drawback to the place was the long wait. DeeDee needed to stop doing so much of the cutting and packaging... More

I'm so distraught! Zimmerhanzels is closed, sold the building to someone else, but not the name. They had the best barbecue ever, and very reasonably priced. The story I heard is that the owner who did all the barbecue and sausage became ill and was no longer able to run the business. Very sad news for this area.
