Actually a surprize!!! cafe is comfortably large, waitstaff is efficient and engaged, food is quite good, parking is not great, and place is hard to find...sign on Main street sez "Cafe" but no hint on where it is. I had the chicken fried steak, was acceptable...and the soup was really good (going back today for a late lunch meeting).

I have eaten here several times on my trips through Salado. They have a good lunch plate, good mushroom burger and I have had their grilled chicken sandwich that I liked. Pretty good service to eat there or you can get take-out. I would recommend if you are shopping in Salado.

Other reviewers mentioned that this was not a fancy place, just a basic small town restaurant. All true. I guess it depends how "basic" you want to go. Our food, for three, was later summed up as "elementary school cafeteria food". It felt industrial and out of a package or can. Small, very clean, family run. Perhaps the daily special... More

I ate at every non-barbeque place in town. This one ranks in the top tier. They had a fish of the day -- which is good for me. A lot of locals eat there and come in for takeout.

First off this is definitely a small town restaurant. If you are expecting fancy silverware, wine choices, and/or diverse menu maybe not the best place for you. If you are looking for a great quality meal at a very friendly price with smiling wait staff this is perfect. They cook basic american fare but it is always fresh and tastes... More

Wonderful place for lunch! Right in the heart of beautiful downtown Salado. Everything was FRESH and hand prepared. The potato soup was creamy, chunky and delicious. I haven't had a grilled cheese sandwich in years and I was flooded with memories of my mother's house and my childhood. The potato salad and the coleslaw were freshly made on site and... More
