I have been to Hard 8 many times but never knew about Reno Red's just next door. I was favorably impressed and there are some things I definitely like better about Reno Red's, mainly the fact that you sit down and order and there's more ambiance. It's a frontier type atmosphere. I ordered a margarita since it was highly recommended... More

We were in downtown Roanoke, no one was sure where to eat. We walked into Reno Red's Frontier Cooking. I had the chicken nachos, they were very tasty. Everyone at my table enjoyed what they ordered. Service was great!

Didn't know what to expect, but it was a central location for an extended family catching up for a short visit. We're we ever surprised! We had everything from pulled pork and fried chicken to steaks. All of it was fine as frog's hair split 4 ways and there was plenty of it. The rustic atmosphere was a plus and... More

First there is plenty of parking. When you walk in there is a family area and a bar area. The bar area is appropriate for families and has tables. Very rustic looking place. Also very clean. Food portions are big and tasty. There margaritas are amazing! Service was a bit slow and it wasn't a busy night but the service... More

Wonderful place to go, if they have a wait, wait, it's worth it. We have never had a bad meal here, my hubby's favorite is of course the prime rib and the country fried steak. Go you will be disappointed.

This place is just a neat place to eat. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was laid back! We ate the Banderos appetizer (stuff jalapeno with your choice of steak, shrimp or chicken and pepper-jack cheese) on a bed of Texas toothpicks. It was around $6-7 for the 1/2 order. We had the Chicken Fried Steak and Chicken Fried Chicken... More

Description
Just who is Reno Red? Look out the windows and gaze back into the time of the great cattle drives of the Old West. The Chisholm Trail was not far from right here. Among those hard working cowboys along the trail that carried half of all the cattle in Texas, was the great chuck wagon master, Reno Red. Cowboys knew when they saw his chuck wagon it meant there was going to be some good eatin' and tales to tell. For most cowboys the chuck wagon was truly their home on the range. And if the chuck wagon was their home, the cook was their king. Because the morale of the men and the smooth functioning of the camp depended on him, the cook's authority was unquestioned. Reno Red is our "Chuck Wagon Master" and the inspiration for our decor and our menu recipes. We have many of Reno's favorite original recipes. And just like Reno, we cook our food on an open mesquite grill for that true frontier cooking experience. Time has come for the tales of Reno Red to be told. We want our customers to know who that cowboy is in our logo. More tales to come . . .
