I asked for local place with good BBQ and this was recommended. I had three meat platter of brisket, turkey and jalapeño sausage. Sausage was very tender, not spicy and little flavor. Turkey was moist but again not much flavor. Brisket, didn't have a red outer ring and broke into small pieces. I had the hot sauce, that was pretty... More

This is the favorite of many Lubbockites!! The brisquet is tender and flavorful. The sausage is very good too. Can't go wrong when you go to J & M and you must try the cherry or apple cobbler with ice cream. YUM The wait staff is very good and attentive to your needs. All said this is a great place and... If you're considering dining in, this review will not be very informative for you because I always carry out. The food is good; and the prices are reasonable. The service is okay. They do close a bit earlier than most places.

BBQ needs to be moist. BBQ needs to be directed around a specific set of spices, be it mustard as in SC or vinegary as in NC. I wanted to like J & M, but man, the food just isn't good. The service is friendly and the atmosphere, exactly right, but the food is bland, often just warm, and very... More

The thick-sliced brisket melts in your mouth! Tender, beautiful smoke ring... I'm glad we chose this place on our visit to Lubbock. Oh, the fried okra was excellent!

J&M is an old style bbq place. Looks like a step back into the 60s/70s. Not a serving line, waitress style. Meat was good/decent though sausage was served cold. Sides were very good. Fresh fried okra, baked beans, cole slaw, mac n cheese all good. Fries kinda mushy. Would definitely try again.

Wow! My wife & I do not typically care for BBQ, we find the sauces too tomato-ey, too sweet, or too spicy. This place is pure alchemy, their sauce is a gustatory perfection. The turkey & brisket (with that SAUCE) were great. And so is the house chili, which is only made when the weather is 50F or colder. Two... More

My husband is very picky about ribs and brisket, preferring his own pit over eating out. We were spending one night in Lubbock so he was overruled. He really liked their ribs and the brisket! The meat was so tender, it fell apart! Delicious absolutely! Yes the dining room is dated but we were not hungry for decorations just good... More

We only found this place while passing through because we stopped by the Buddy Holly Center. We finished up there and decided to have lunch before heading back out on the road. While looking on line, J&M was not far and had decent reviews. As we pulled in right at 3PM, we noticed a big sign in the window that... More
