We went to Chisholm Trail BBQ, and Got the Chopped Beef Sandwich which were Very Good and had pickles, and onions on the Sandwiches. We were only getting a snack, so I would like to go back and have a meal.

Nice place with good barbeque. The food is served cafeteria style its all good. I got the two meat plate which comes with three sides. Salads come first then other things such as okra, corn, potatoes etc . Its hard to decide. The atmosphere is homey. The afternoon crowd was light. The prices are better than Blacks or Kraus's Try... The prices here were excellent. However the brisket was a bit dry and tough. Green beans were salty. The pinto beans were great though! The biscuits were good too. I'd go back if I wanted BBQ and was on a tight budget.

You hear about Lockhart BBQ and you would think they all are pretty good. I have had better from a chain BBQ restaurant. We planned to go to Black's but had a large group. I do not recommend this place. The sides were not great and the BBQ was a little tough.

Out of all of the bbq places in Lockhart, this one failed miserably. I've eaten at all the others in town many times. I kept hearing that Chisholm is one of the best. Twice I had dry brisket, dry sausage and the same for the ribs. Most locals were eating the fried fish special. It's a line like a Luby's... More

It's our turn to rank the Lockhart BBQs.....to be fair, my top choice is always Franklin's while my wife's is Black's. While it is obvious that Chisholm Trail is a local favorite, we found their brisket to have a decent smoke ring, but it was dry. So right there they go to the 3rd rank. However, TX BBQ is still... We detour here every time we are out on this side of Texas. We eat and then load up on boxes of sausage to bring back to Brownfield, Tx. The people are great and friendly and the food is always superb!!

Cafeteria style foods...remember, your eyes will be bigger than your stomach but you just can't help it...great foods to choose from. And no worries...leftover goes home with you :). Their BBQ meats are out of this world, it's cut/carved/pulled right in front of you. If you're ever in Lockhart, you HAVE to stop there.

While visiting family we went here with a large group. We got there around 1115 to avoid any lines and to get a seat all together (11 total, 7 adults and 3 kids). We got two of the family meals for everyone to share and the price was very reasonable. The sides selection is very large and all the sides... More

Barbecue chicken is always dry. Peach cobbler they need to go to something different always has way too much bread and not enough peaches. I can't ever seem to get brisket that just melts in your mouth and is not too dry.
