Visiting my sister in Houston, my husband and I set off for him to drive me through the area he lived in 30 years ago. I made him stop in the River Oaks shopping center to visit a kitchen store, and I saw Epicure Cafe across the way. It was rainy and brunch time, so we went inside. My husband... More

Epicure Cafe has nice food selections with a variable menu. It has good soups, salads, and bakery items. It is a cozy spot to stop and enjoy a meal, coffee, or dessert as a couple or with friends.

We stopped here for supper before going to the River Oaks Theater next door for a movie. We had the food and wine special-- an entree plus wine for $20. The gorgonzola ravioli and vegetables was tasty as was a panini. The wine was fine. It's pretty casual in the bistro atmosphere and counter ordering. While the desserts looked great,... More

Visited this cafe for coffee with a business associate only to be reminded of what a perfect landing spot it is. The individual pastries and sweets behind a glass counter remind me of a patisserie. Service is friendly; the place is spotless. Our espresso choices were delivered in perfect condition. The patrons at other tables were enthusiastic about their selections,... More

All day dining on West Gray, next to the River Oaks Theatre, very convenient for before or after movies! Good food and service, my favorite drink is their berry lemonade, great for a summer warm day. Good salads and sandwiches and yummy desserts and cookies.

I have always had good experiences here, but today, I was very disappointed. They make these awesome wheat rolls to go with the soup. The ones today seemed like they were warmed up in the microwave. They were very tough. I could not even slice through them. My spinach and mushroom quiche tasted old and in fact, several hours later,... More

I was referred to this cafe by a former Houstonite. Our food was good and filling. There are two ordering stations but the area should be flipped with the bakery display area. It is very congested and was either poorly planned for flow or it has out-grown the original plan. Perhaps a register on each side of the bakery display... More

We stopped by this cafe after viewing a movie at the River Oaks Theatre and were delighted. It was difficult to choose from the large selection of delicious looking pastries but we decided on the Italian Creme Cake and the Strawberry Jelly Roll. Both were scrumptious, and surprisingly light. We had some of the best coffee we've had in Houston.... More

This place is not gourmet, it is a quaint local cafe with traditional and unique menu items. Some of the items are mediocre, some are amazing. But I appreciate this restaurant because they make everything there, unlike La Madeline (whose ingredient quality has gone down the tubes as they have grown). I like the little raspberry linzer cookies, soups, and... More

I've given this place plenty of chances, to no avail. They are way overpriced. I spent way more for breakfast (two omelets, side of fruit, salsa, two iced teas) than for our lunch elsewhere. The salsa is $2 extra - don't bother. Makes Pace picante sauce taste authentic. They took 10 minutes to bring our iced teas - they used... More
