El Tiempo provides classic Tex-Mex food, professional service, and a good atmosphere. We arrived, without reservations, at 7:30 pm, and were promptly seated in the main dining area. Ordering margaritas, we initially enjoyed chips with a well-made creamy sauce and warm picante sauce. The margaritas were on the rocks and, though made with the house tequila, were flavorful and strong... More

Always one of the best run restaurants in Houston. The food was plentiful, well prepared, flavorful and served quickly. I love having a choice in types of beef. The waitstaff is attentive and well trained. When we left, at least five employees thanked us for coming. It's our favorite!

This place is stunning, I took a group on a tour. They were Mexican greenhorns so it was a revelation for them. The main came out in a mini BBQ each, with charcoal keeping the food warm. The brisket fajitas were just stunning, and the carne asado was too. Highly recommended!

We had a large multi-age group (11 people from 8 to 69) including family members and new friends attending the opera in the Heights. One person had been here before & recommended it. Everyone loved it. We ordered Parrilladas for the table. They served enough beef, shrimp, chicken, quail, with tortillas & vegies for all to get completely stuffed. Everything... More

This cute restaurant is decorated in a very Mexican way, with pictures of Guanajuato along the walls, it feels like you are transported to Mexico. The food proportions are large, and can definitely be shared. I had the mariqueso with shrimp, which they plate up for you table side. You get about 5 filled tortillas out of the one dish.... More

The private party was extremely well done, Pitchers of the good stuff flowed like there would never stop, and for some that was too much! The food was served buffet and the scrimp was big enough to eat me. Delicious and festive

I have enjoyed El Tiempo for dinner and the atmosphere and food are great. A colleague and I visited for lunch. The fajitas were good but the waiter pushed us to order several times and interrupted us very frequently. While I appreciate prompt service - it was overbearing and rushed. It was not because the restaurant was full with waiting... More

Great food, excellent margaritas and fun atmosphere at all of their locations. El Tiempo is a Houston classic for a reason. Great for a big group or dinner for 2. If you don't want fajitas, the ribs and the cannonball are also divine choices. Tip for new players - don't fill up on the complementary chip and dip - it... More

The service and food was very good even at the peak lunch time on Friday. Great seafood tocos and even better margaritas. The only downside was the lack of parking, so we had to valet. It may be better at a different time and day.

This place is a Houston staple and has great food. There is typically a wait to be seated depending on the day of the week but it's worth the wait. We started with 2 virgin strawberry daiquiris for the kids and 2 gold margaritas straight up which are very strong and delicious. They are served in a wine glass with... More
