Downtown Harlingen and Always a good time! Expanding its space with outdoor venue and LIVE music! Food still awesome. Put this one on your list!

My friend and I went for lunch on a Wednesday. We arrived about 11:45 and only about 6 diners were in the small place. The waiter quickly shouted out a welcome to the "Rio Grande Grill". We ordered from the chalk board menu above the counter. We both ordered chopped brisket sandwiches, which came with a side of coleslaw or... More

We ate lunch there last week, 1st visit! We ordered the special for that day, shrimp tacos. They were delicious! But the 2nd best was the green sauce to dip them in! Wow, they went perfectly together! We will definitely return.

This is a little place in downtown Harlingen, and the food is fantastic and unique. The owners really take pride in what they do, everyone is very friendly, and if you go away hungry, it's your own fault! The brisket is perhaps the best I've ever had, but I haven't had anything there I don't like. I fully expect that... More

A hippy-ish couple now run this place... And they make some DARN GOOD Brisket. The pies they offer aren't too bad either.

I am not easily impressed with "foodie" joints outside of the big cities, but this one is legit. I was skeptical when I saw some of the reviews of this place, but I guess that's what you get when you have "locals" that are used to fast food. I will definitely be back. I came in on a Thursday which... More

The brisket and pulled-pork were perfected smoked. Had the Suiza enchilada with brisket with a tomatillo sauce. Also, pulled-pork enchilada with a smoked poblano pepper sauce which was excellent. Served with charro beans and rice. Small, intimate, somewhat eclectic atmosphere. Owners were on-site. Service excellent. Helped with our selections. Prices moderate.

I usually don't do reviews. In this case I feel compelled to however. These people at Rio Grande Grill do not understand barbecue. Worse, they don't understand the people who love barbecue. It reminds me of that other terrible barbecue joint BAR-BE-CUTE located on 10th street in McAllen. Both these places skimp on the meat. I remember when Rio Grande... More

Really nice place for a comfortable lunch with good artisan entertainment. We enjoyed the brisket sandwich and Tortilla soup. Both top notch. Numerous craft beers available. Short hours only open during lunch. Highly suggest Rio Grande Grill for an excellent lunch before heading to Jackson street for some shopping.
