I've lived in Galveston almost 7 years but first heard of Sonny's a few weeks ago. I don't understand why, as this restaurant has everything a big eater could want: atmosphere (colloquial), menu selection, reasonable prices, tasty food and Galveston history. This is one of those places you just have to try. Not difficult to find - just a couple of... More

Wanted good chili, this was the place. Then could not resist an oyster mug. Always a good choice in Galveston.

The food is good and service is as friendly as it gets, but it isn't the fastest place in town. It has been a hidden treasure and hangout for the locals and UTMB students for decades. Im not sure how they get the beer so cold, but it is impressive. The Artery Clogger is a favorite of mine although it... More

There are several items that show how the bar is a local hangout and it has a nice atmosphere. The food on the other hand is awful. I have gotten better food from McDonald's on a bad day. The wait took forever and it seemed like the non-regular patrons were a bother.

This old restaurant and bar is a hidden gem. they have one of the best old fashioned burgers I have had in a long time. this place is so good that in time I believe as people find out about it will be hard to get in. the burgers are not the only thing that's delicious. so far mostly only... More

If you want an old fashioned burger and fries then this is the place for you. Nothing fancy at all, just simple service and delicious food! Lots of pictures on the walls from old Galveston and a little bit of mustard entertainment for newbies. Highly recommended!

Read reviews on TA, had to stop by with a buddy for a few beers and lunch. Both of us had Jalepeno Cheese Burgers and fries, off the hook old style flattop cooked patties with nice local veggies. Good flavor, plenty juicy. Double cooked fries just right crunch. Great looking varied menu with seafood gumbo that I'm told is great,... More

I am so glad we did! Service is outstanding, food and portion size is amazing. The owner is fun, and engaged with his customers. It... More
