Having lived in Germany for five years, I am fairly picky about my German food. My mom and I visited for lunch and the place was packed. Our server was great and our food came out quickly. Mom had Rouladen and I had Weinerschnitzel with Spaetzle. Both were great, although I've never seen cheese added to spaetzle....maybe not in the... More

Had lunch at the Old German Bakery , it was delicious. Since it was a cold day we ordered soup and half a sandwich. The bread was excellent so was the soup. If you're going for breakfast get there early , during their busy season it can get crowded. They also close early.

Great bakery and breakfast, I've also heard good things about their lunch too. The german pancake (filled with strawberries) was amazing! Reminded me of bakeries from up north - great selection. Highly recommend.

Stopped in for breakfast. Our meal was pretty good but then it was eggs and sausage, nothing special. We stopped here for the pastries. Had high hopes but they were rather average tasting.

Popular spot on a Sunday! Must be willing to wait outside but you can grab a delightful pastry from the display case and munch as you sit on benches on the front "porch". Good breakfast. The French toast is made from their own freshly baked bread. The "pancake" is a platter sized crepe--very light and tasty. Good coffee in a... More

We had the Jagerschnitzel special and it was outstanding for a very reasonable price. If you don't know what a jagerschnitzel is it is chicken fried pork with a mushroom gravy on it. The translation is hunters chicken fried steak. I have had it many times in that I lived in Germany for 6 years. This was very good and... More

Very popular place but worth the wait. Sardines might find it a bit packed with tables and people but I'd go back if we're ever in Fredericksburg again. Peggy had the Belgium Waffle and I had eggs, Emma's sausage and hash browns. They pack the plate with oh so good food! I started with the eggs but dashed into the... More

If you are visiting Fredricksburg and need a place to eat a great breakfast, or get a loaf of bread to go with the meat you bought at the smoke shack, then the Old German Bakery is your place! Reasonably priced and spot on with their selection and choices, the Old German Bakery is worth the stop. It's where the... More

It's been a couple of years. Sorry to say very disappointed. Coffee weak. My pancakes were cold, so cold the butter didn't melt on them. I was so looking forward to going again too. We arrived about 730. Place was busy, but there were open tables. Doesn't explain cold pancakes and really weak coffee.
