Henk's European Deli on Blackwell in Dallas has cornered the market in cakes and pastries. This bakery has been my personal favorite for twenty years. Every item is handmade and is made with the freshest ingredients. There is no scrimping on perfection when it comes to taste. The prices are commensurate with the product you receive. Their competition does not... More

Good, simple food with a Euro-twist at reasonable prices. Service is efficient and beer selection is good. Also a select variety of European grocery/packaged goods that cannot be found anywhere else in Dallas. Oh...don't forget the deli counter and cake & pastry department. The only thing they don't sell: tulips. Good choice if you're not looking to go fancy.

Four of us visited Henks for lunch recently. No wait in the restaurant, place was busy. Three of us got the weiner schnitzel w/ german potatoe salad and cole slaw. It was very average. Schnitzel was good - potatoe salad OK - cole slaw didn't have much flavor at all. Another got the chicken schnitzel sandwich, she said it was... More

This place serves German food and I recommend any of the sausages that they make in-house. I also really enjoy the Rueben. It is not very big but it is very tasty and the quality of the meat is high. The place gets busy and is not very large so there may be a wait. The ambience is cozy and... More

Henk's has been around a long time. Off Greenville Ave, it's a place you should get to know. An Authentic German deli that has outstanding sandwiches and plate lunches, plus a delightful assortment of pastries, cakes and European chocolates. The service is warm and friendly. My Rueben was primo and came with a pickle spear and chips. My friends had... More

This out of the way, charming, "very European" eatery is well worth the time and energy for some good eating. My wife and I both had the rouladen, spaetzle, and potato soup. I also had the fried potatoes, while she had the german potato salad. All were excellent. I honestly can't enough good things about this small and quaint eatery.... More

We read the great reviews and came and had breakfast. The food was OK, the service at the table was very good. The brochen they had was not up to par. The place needs a makeover and a clean up.

Friendly staff. Good German food. Reasonable prices. The bakery offerings are amazing. We tried the schnitzel, German potato salad, and sauerkraut. The Black Forest cake and the strawberry cream cake are worth a visit by themselves!

I can't remember how I discovered Henk's many years ago. But it is like a home away from home. It's a small family-run business of 2nd and 3rd generation Dutch. Small, cozy, European atmosphere. The food is what I would call standard German restaurant fare: Schnitzel, Goulash, Rouladen, Sausage Platter, Rot Kohl (Red Cabbage) and hot Potato Salad. The Potato... More

My husband loves the sausages and red cabbage and hot potato salad. I tried goulash last time was surprisly delicious. Pork is great. Love everything I have tried. Go there every time in Dallas. Thursday's bread pudding.
