We used to stop by Mattito’s regularly. The general manager, Mark, is the worst. His comments and behavior are so inappropriate that they are not suitable for public posting. We will no longer go there as long as Mark is there. Truly a shame!

I ordered a raco salad and the salad shell was only half full. Thete was a little bit of refried beans at the bottom, about 1 cup of lettuce, then sour cream and avocado. Never seen such an empty salad shell !!!
I actually ordered for delivery to my hotel. The mexican restaurants near my residence don't offer dishes with mole sauce so I was excited to try theirs. It was really good- a little bit of heat on the back end but nothing overpowering. The chicken...was good, ample portion for the price. I paired it with a frozen mango margarita and it was the perfect accompaniment. I would order this dish again if in the area. I do appreciate that for a to-go order my drink was given to my driver last minute so it was still frozen on arrival and my food was hot. That doesn't always happen with delivery service.More
I started with chips and hot sauce. The hot sauce at best was average. It wasn’t even hot spicy at the least bit. Oh well…. That’s Dallas for you. I thought it was unusual that on a special holiday like this, their help in the...kitchen was limited therefore they had a limited menu. Strange? Do you think that being in the service industry they would want to cater to their clientele, not to their employees. Especially coming out of a pandemic. Oh well. I had to Texas enchiladas which were basically two cheese enchiladas chopped with beef fajita meat and chili con Carney. It all would’ve been very very good if it would’ve been hot when it was served. It appears as if it was all premade and just sitting out ready to be brought out to a table. I pretty much found that lacking. The fajita meat was very good, but I would say that it wasn’t even warm. Another oh well. My server was awesome, and he did the best he could with what he was given. I don’t hold it against him, and I tipped him well. Will I come back? Hmmmm….. I probably will if someone gives me a $20 gift card, LOL.More
I am appalled at the service I have received the last 2 times I have eaten at Mattito's. I have been a customer for MANY years. I started going to the location in what is now Uptown Dallas off of Routh St, at least 20...years ago. I continued going to the location off of Oak Lawn and Herschel Ave. During that time I ate at many different Mexican restaurants, and while most of them changed, closed, or relocated; I kept returning to Mattito's for the reliable food quality and service. Within the past 2 months I have been twice. The first review is on the Oak Lawn Lawn locations page. The second visit was to this Forest Lane location. When it came time to pay, I gave the waiter my Mastercard credit/debit card. He came back a few minutes later and said it had been declined. We immediately checked and there was over $1400 in the account. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager didn't come within 5 minutes so I decided to run to an ATM. That's when we noticed that 2 (I believe they were hostesses) appeared and started obviously watching us while standing in front of a TV like prison guards. The harder they tried not to make it obvious, the more absurdly noticable it became. Everytime we would look up, they would look away; like we hadn't noticed them staring at us. It was beyond frustrating, but I tried to understand why they were doing it. $64 is a decent size check for two people. Now other guests are looking at us and questioning the situation. I went ahead and left for the ATM while my partner sat there for what he said was the most uncomfortable 15 minutes. He didn't even use the bathroom because he was afraid of trouble. While nobody said anything to us directly, THEY DID NOT SAY ANYTHING TO US. Why nobody could come over and speak to us or offer any solution I had to leave the restaurant and take care of it myself (solutions which we later found there were 2 of) I went to an ATM and pulled the cash right out of the same account. I called the bank to find that they didn't even receive the attempted charge and therefore did not deny the charge. I returned to pay the bill. While I was gone the manager finally showed up and mentioned she could've ran the card manually or called to run it. Options that were not offered by the waiter. I have worked in customer service for MANY years. When a card has been declined or there is another card issue, the situation is immediately considered as escalated. It is then the managers duty to get involved. The manager is the ambassador of the restaurant; the mediator per say. She did not try to handle the escalation and when we asked to speak with her before I left to get the money then she kept repeating that this all was out of her hands (after already telling us she could have tried other things). She blamed it on my account or my bank. While their credit card vendor does deserve some blame; as customers of Mattito's, we were in her care. If the vendor denied our card it was her job to talk to us. If the card vendor is denying cards even for a few people (even for one couple), an investigation should be conducted. That is not out of anybody's hands, it's outside of their desire to make things right or even sooth a now agitated customer. We will NEVER be back to any Mattito's restaurant. I WOULD RATHER GO TO TACO BELL! Update** As requested by the owner I am rethinking my review. It looks like they have some obvious expectations of their disappointed customers. Kind of like the expectations I had to receive decent and quality customer care when visiting their restaurants. The restaurant is named Mattito's and not "Dicks Last Resort". Blaming the customer is never a good idea. This poor customer service experience is not just mine. They were shared by the people who were with me (1 other person this time) The expectations we had were not unreasonable, believe me I've gotten the opinions of several other people after posting about it on my personal facebook page. Out of respect to the request, which again is not something I owed anyone; I slept before responding to the response about my unhinged, deplorable, and scathing ideas. Yes, I shared this experience on Yelp, Travelocity, Facebook, and Google maps for all three of the restaurants. Something else he seemed to chalk me up to, is someone who loves to complain. I enjoy nothing more than lifting people up and telling them things to brighten their day (when they are doing something great); it is why I get up in the morning. So I can see what I can put into the stream of life. It's called being of service to others. Something the owner, the management, and waiters don't comprehend. By the way, I never said the food was awful, I never blatantly blamed them personally for my card not being accepted; which they still seem to be fixated on. I am angry at how it was handled, how we were treated then, and how I am being dismissed as irrational now. Again, something I don't experience at any restaurants where dinner costs $15. Why when I go some place nicer and pay more, I would get even less customer care; makes no sense. An owner or company representative makes a better appearance as a brand ambassador, when they publicly tell a customer "we are sorry for your experience" and then go the extra mile to ask that customer "what can I personally do to make sure it doesn't happen in the future". No matter how mad a customer is, you are always trying to sell your business to any others who may be watching. From the looks of all the bad experiences on all, applicablereview sites, poor customer service seems to be a thread.More

Just did a quick takeout of quesidias (fajita chicken and spinach). Very well done. With them, chips, salsa, guacamole and whipped cream. Very good and quick service. Easy parking.

Just stopped in at happy hour. Decent chips and salsa. Also had the queso. All good. For an entree, split the chicken quesadilla. Very good with scoops of sour cream and quac. Good discounted happy hour drinks. Excellent service and easy parking.
Thank you for coming in and for the great review! I am so happy to hear how much you enjoyed the quesadillas and happy hour. I hope you come back to visit us again soon. Jeff Frankel, owner
Mattito's Mexican Restaurant is OK for lunch. The food is average Tex-Mex, not too exciting. The tortilla soup is average, at best, but the salsa is good, and the beer is cold. The luncheon plates are large, so don't snack beforehand.More

Work right around the corner and had not tried this location until a friend suggested it. I have eaten at the one in Uptown a few times and it did not leave an impression that I would visit this one any sooner. Lunch was just...starting, service was quick and food came out pretty quickly. Chips are wonderful, light in texture and not greasy or over salted. Salsa is fresh and just hot enough. Very tasty. Do not remember this b/c usually if the chips and salsa are good I will be back. Lunch special pricing was not what I would call low. My friend had a special and it was $10 before the tip. She had an enchilada and a taco and said her food was tasty. The enchilada was huge and stuffed with chicken. I had avocado enchiladas with a creamy cilantro sauce and I added sour cream sauce to the mix. It came with a white cilantro rice and black beans. Everything was very good. I am a texture person so after one enchilada I was no longer fond of the texture and left the other on my plate. Parking lot needs to be striped and repaired. It was rough and limited to no lines for spaces. Made for quite the exit when leaving. The place was full when we left at 12:40pm. I will go back.More

We visited Mattito's a few times and find it pretty good for a drink and simple Mexican food. And the price is very reasonable. I try to not go to Mexican restaurants because of excessive cheese and fried food, not good for cholesterol. However, on...a recent visit I found low-cal fajita, a new item on the menu, without oil and it was good.More

Came here for lunch. I was extremely pleased with everything about it. The server was very pleasant to speak with. And the food had great flavor. I’ll definitely be coming back here.
Service was excellent and food was very good. The avacado enchilada is very good as are the top shelf margaritas. The cheese enchiladas were average with too much brown gravy. Overall our group of six had a very good dinner.
