Athough this was our second time here, the bad rewiews made me a bit uncertain. Our experience today for breakfast was awesome! We went on a Saturday at 9:00 am. Laurie was our server. We could not have gotten a better server. She waited on us, and we quickly got our order. Many times she filled up our coffee. Our... More

This is the busiest place. Service was good and quick and attentive. Just a good historic building full of love of customers and friends you could tell by all the interacting. Local place people love to come to. Nothing to complain about here. Good food and plenty of it. Will definitely go back when in town.

Wife and I both had chicken fried chicken and it was ver tender a juicy. Did not have too much batter and the sides were great as well. We had mashed potatoes and fried okra. Very southern meal. They also have quite a few homemade pies and the coconut pie was exceptional. Word of warning, if you are coming from... More

We had stopped for late breakfast on our way back from Austin to Houston on Sunday. It was a fairly long wait, but the food was great. The service was very friendly. I would certainly recommend the detour if you have time.

Was told there would be 30 min wait, but only waited 10-15 min. Breakfast was delicious....I went for the tacos, hubby had traditional breakfast eggs/bacon/French toast......all was perfect! Great atmosphere if you're looking for a small town café!!!

Maxine's is one of the best breakfasts you can get in Texas, seriously! My boys love the huge plates with excellent pancakes and biscuits, and I enjoy an egg white omelette with bacon, prepared better than most fancy hotels I stay at on business. It's worth the drive from Austin to experience such excellent food and a genuine small town... More

An excellent place to eat. Great variety of menu choices, nothing was disappointing!! Wonderful food, fantastic wait staff. If you don't like to wait for a place to sit, this is not for you. BUT we were there at a fairly busy time 1145am so it was the lunch rush. But when we got seated, the waitress and other staff... More

I wish I could say everything is good on the menu.If you are not use to old fashion cooking and some items over cooked or dry. Please order something you may think you cant mess up. I had several items different times of the day. it is kind of hit or miss if the menu item is good.

We enjoyed this restaurant. They had live jazz music - a bit too loud for my taste, making it hard to talk. But the veggie burger was great. My husband enjoyed their chicken pot pie. We had to send back the butter beans because they were crazy salty. Bottom line: it's a cute restaurant in downtown Bastrop. You'll get good... More

The only thing this place has going for it is that its the only place you can go for breakfast that isn't a Mexican restaurant. I've lived here for five years and have visited several times. I've been so displeased that I pretty much go in about twice a year. Today, my wife and I stop in for breakfast. We... More
