We wandered in with some trepidation expecting the usual cafe fare during a rare and impromptu visit to the Dandenongs . I had fond memories from my childhood over 50 years ago of an elegant restaurant with wonderful views and a magical garden and I was pleased to see it still operating. As the Wednesday set 3 course menu progressed... More

Everything about Coonara Springs whispers understated elegance and impeccable attention to detail. The setting is truly breathtaking - beautifully maintained grounds nestle in the trees, but with a vista stretching for miles, it feels like dining in the world's best tree house. The welcome was charming and the staff remained warm, friendly and attentive yet discreet. It is wonderful (and... More

Went today to celebrate my mums birthday, and everything about this restaurant was elegant, welcoming and first class. I had the teriyaki salmon for mains followed by the strawberry mess. Mum had the lamb and pineapple tart. I've eaten in some really really expensive restaurants and Coonara Springs was equally as good if not better. All I can say is... More

We had lunch here today with friends - what a stunning restaurant! We ate outside in the beautiful garden and took in the view while we enjoyed house smoked salmon and the best eye fillet we have ever had. The music, the wine and the staff were fabulous too. We will definitely be back, thanks so much for looking after... More

We stumbled across this lovely restaurant on a day trip from Melbourne. Even though we were casually attired we were made to feel very welcome. The service was impeccable and friendly, and the food delicious. The smaller details were also spot on, including nicely warmed plates, bone handled knives and beautifully presented food. We will definitely go back!

I've returned to Coonara Springs, this time with all the staff from work for a games night and Christmas function. We were given a beautiful dining room with an open fine which had been set for us with games tables around the room edges. The chef had prepared a set menu for us while meeting the needs of gluten free... More

Nice slow food very well prepared. Perhaps good to have a few more herbs and spices. Set lunch menu tasty and not too much food. Staff knowledgeable and friendly. Not rushed. Fairly expensive but quality. Leave time to walk around garden and see view.

Description
A destination restaurant set in seven acres of landscaped gardens with views over the Yarra Valley. Modern Australian food with a hint of nostalgia from the past. The 90 year old weatherboard property has recently been restored, celebrating its glorious history of entertaining since the 1920's. Enjoy the light filled restaurant floor overlooking the gardens, the lounge rooms next to open fires in winter or the private dining room for special events and weddings. Adrian the chef prides himself on both growing and making, follow a produce to plate philosophy, tending his veggies in our extensive growing areas which guests can walk around. Don't forget a visit to the spring if you feel like a longer walk, and book our outdoor dining tables during the summer months. Enjoy locally sourced wines, home made breads, butters and ice-cream! Amanda or one of our team look forward to welcoming you to Coonara Springs.
