Truly different. You feel like a family member coming home for supper. There are no strangers in this restaurant and the food is awesome and generous.

Small restaurant that you have to have time to wait as all the food is cooked fresh per order. Bring someone with you that is a good conversationalist. We arrived to enjoy the brunch. My hubby ordered chicken and waffles, salmon croquet, country potatoes and I ordered fried pork chop, rice, tomato gravy and fried green tomato. The pork chop... More

What a neat dining experience!!! The food is cooked to order so plan on a few minutes wait, but it is surely worth it!! The catfish was fried to perfection, mac and cheese was yummy and the sweet potatoes reminded me of my grandmas!! Hot water cornbread was tasty too!!! We did get a dessert to go the pound cake.... Every patron was welcomed with a kiss. Food was amazing. Great place to sit and play their games and enjoy the company. Definitely more food than we could eat.

We were tipped off by a local about Alcenia's, and so glad we went! From the opening free hug for each guest to the hand dipped, freshly fried chicken dinner, to the hot water corncakes, and other soul food specialties, this was a winner. Just be prepared--we didn't have room to try out any of the delicious desserts!

Decided to stop by after visiting friends in Memphis. I must say this was soul food at its finest. I came on a Saturday where they only serve brunch. I had salmon croquettes, pan cakes, rice, fried green tomatoes, potatoes, tomato gravy. Everything was great. The owner is a sweet heart and comes out and greets all her guests.

Alcenia's is just a gem! Just loved the very warm and welcoming hug and kiss from the owner, it makes you feel right at home. The food is freshly made and you can just taste the love in every bite! You have to try the Ghetto-Aid! Well definitely be coming back for the food and the hugs and kisses!

Like a lot of people I know, I had a really bad week last week. On top of the bad week, I had to be downtown all day for some really boring training. Since I was in the neighborhood I decided to try Alcenia's. I was greeted at the door with a big, genuine hug. My food was absolutely wonderful!... More

We could not have received a warmer welcome than the one we were given – a kiss on the forehead. That's a nice way to start lunch And lunch was good. I had the fried chicken -- dark meat -- which was perfectly prepared, just for me. The sides of green beans and yams were delicious, as was the homemade... More
