We stayed for 2 nights. Our room, No 4, was very comfortable and had a beautiful view looking over to the Kyles of Bute. Greg, the owner was very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

Booked one night in October. Delighted with room 2. Kyles' facing spacious room with very comfortable 4 poster bed. Had dinner in hotel. Small and sharing tapas on offer. All delicious but we ordered too many. Excellent breakfast. Very Covid wary and felt very safe....Highly recommended.More

Unique range of Scottish styled tapas at this restaurant. Great views across the Kyles of Bute. Friendly and helpful staff. Tapas included smoked salmon, tempura haddock, chicken satay, pancake roll, etc. Very different. Good quality food and all seemed home made. Service was not quick...and the restaurant was not busy but this was not an issue for us. Found the 3 for £25 to be good value for money considering the decent size of portions. These are not small spanish tapas sized but decent portions. Would recommend if in the area.More

We stayed for a couple of nights in a wonderful room with fantastic views across the Kyles of Bute. To sit at the window and just take in the scenery was astounding. We ate wonderfully in the restaurant, although different with Covid-19 restrictions the staff...went the extra mile to make it all as best as it could be. Fresh seafood and other dishes served Tapas style which meant we could mix and match our meal. An interesting and innovative idea for such a good restaurant. It was very well appreciated. The helpfulness of the owners was excellent too. Having to start out very early on a Sunday morning to travel back home they prepared a wonderful packed breakfast. Hot bacon sandwiches, very neatly wrapped, orange juice and a selection of fresh fruit were provided. Just the job. Many thanks for your help and support.More

Food and service was great, the tapas style menu was nice but was quite expensive for what you got. E.g. £10 a plate for 3 fish goujons or 2 wee chicken tacos with 2 chunks of chicken in each. Flavours were lovely just thought it...was quite dear. Nice beer garden at back.More

My wife and I arrived at the Royal An Lochan for our 2 night stay on 14th of February, we were taken to our room and I had ordered a bouquet of white lilies and a bottle of Prosecco to be in the room for...us arriving .We went for our evening meal which was a special with it being Valentine’s Day and included a free bottle of pink Prosecco. The choice of food was excellent and it was all cooked to perfection. We met some friends for a couple of drinks in the conservatory after our meal and we had a great time catching up. My wife had a luxury Gel Pedicure booked with the lovely Layla Adams at 1pm on the Saturday afternoon, all Layla`s treatments use only locally sourced natural products. The massage, beauty room and waiting room in the An Lochan were really relaxing and well decorated. Layla was professional and very experienced in her treatments. It is great to see the hotel add these treatments to their guest experiences. People from postponed ferries turned up looking for food and lodgings. To their credit the hotel owners Gill and Greg pulled out all the stops to accommodate these people. Tamara the waitress worked her socks off as did Struan the chef. We could not have wished to spend a Valentine’s Day with a better bunch of fabulous people in a lovely hotel. We cannot wait to go back again.More

Enjoyed a superb evening at The Royal an Lochan on Valentine's night, which also happens to be our wedding anniversary. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with gorgeous red roses, chair sashes, hearts and candles. The menu interesting and varied. We both chose scallops with Vietnamese...sauce to start then fillet steak and halibut for mains finishing with chocolate fondant and cheesecake for dessert. Everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Such good value at £30 per person including a bottle of pink Prosecco per couple. After the delicious meal we enjoyed a few digestifs in the conservatory lounge with friends. Service was just the right balance of friendly efficiency. A truly super evening. Thank you.More

I’ve never written a review before but feel compelled to do so now. Me and my wife ate here based on the reviews, we were disappointed to say the least. We hadn’t booked and were told the kitchen was busy so we would have to...wait 30 mins. Not a problem. We took a seat and waited in the lovely surroundings of the lounge. At 45 mins we watched another couple, who came in later than us, get taken to their seats. Five minutes later I checked when we would be seated and shortly after we were. We were baffled at why it took so long to seat us as there were 4 other empty tables, only one of which had been recently vacated. An hour after we arrived we were given our food. Mine (the pie) was not even luke warm. Such nice surroundings but that’s were the enjoyment ends unfortunately.More
