I ate in the bistro last night and I was not expecting the quality of the food to be so good. The restaurant is well laid out with plenty of room between the tables. I could have chosen several things from the menu but opted for the black pudding salad and braised venison haunch to follow. The venison was outstanding,... More

Friendly staff - pick a table (the ones with the view go fast) and order/pay at the bar. The striploin sandwich was outstanding. Timing is everything - managed to get in before the place got crowded. Noted that the staff was very accommodating for a mobility-challenged customer in a motorized chair.

The bar area is nice enough, with a good selection of drinks, snacks, etc, but the staff didnt make you feel welcome there. We had dinner there after some drinks in the bar, and the food... More

I loved my meal here on Wednesday. Staff were very pleasant and it is well decorated and well presented. The only thing that lets it down slightly is the lack of vegetarian options.

There are two dishes for me that offer good value and a great meal. My absolute favourite at the moment is the Smoked Haddock risotto. Huge plate, big pieces of not your yellow haddock but pure white haddock topped off with crispy parsnip and pea shoots. Truly fantastic washed down with a large glass of the house Scicilian Nero. My... More

The food is expensive - which is to be expected on an island I guess - but it is tasty and easily competes with anywhere around if you want something classy. All locally sourced food, and the local cheeseboard is a great dessert, along with the trio of port. Breakfast for non-residents is £12.50 which is extravagant considering what you... More

My partner and I ate at the bistro while staying at the hotel. We had an excellent stay and very much enjoyed eating at the bistro. The service was wonderful; friendly and attentive. Our food was also excellent. I had the haddock risotto which was beautifully cooked and my partner had the pork belly. We felt that our meal was... More
