We've been visiting the Church House Inn at Churstow for almost 40 years but today we didn't plan to be there. We walked over to the Pilchard Inn on Burgh Island only to find it closed. Heading back to Salcombe we found the Church House open for lunch. As we had an evening meal planned elsewhere we didn't want a... More

Thank you for your review. We took over the pub the first week of January and welcome your comments. We will ensure that sliced cheese in sandwiches will be available in the future. We look forward to you visiting again. Many Thanks More

The Church House Inn now has new management, we had the best ever Fish Pie there last night, great atmosphere and stall all very welcoming, still the best carvery. We had a very large Fish Pie on our table to serve between 8 of us, plenty of fresh vegetables, excellent! Deserts looked really good as well, especially the Creme Brule.

We were in South Devon staying with friends and the recommendation for an evening Meal was the Church House Inn. Set in the Beautiful area of South Devon, this quaint olde worlde Pub has that special welcome as you drive into the Car Park and this is replicated when you enter the cosy atmosphere of the inside. Extensive choice of... More

We've been coming here for some time for their Sunday carvery. If you are a bit of a glutton, this is heaven. A wide choice of meats and veg plus accompanying sauces - oh and don't forget the puds! Good value for money, friendly staff and a unique venue. We are bound to be back again. Yum yum. P.S. The... More

Found on the internet whilst staying in Sacombe and unable to book anything in town and what a find! Great food and a very friendly atmosphere. Great choice on the a le carte menu with a carvery as an alternative. A definite booking when next in the area.

Well there is quite a mixed bag of reviews for this quaint and charming 13th century Devon church house standing as it does close to, and parallel with, the old village church. Having recently received a couple of 'terrible' reviews due to poor service and a booking mix up perhaps the owners are being more careful this autumn… not that... More

Having tried to eat there twice and told sorry we are full.on the 3rd time having booked a table we were told HE had made a mistake and booked us for the following day. Then there's nothing I can do. What about moving people around or trying to fit us in seeing that it's YOUR mistake, but no. You would... More

My parents introduced me to the Church House as it is by far their favourite place to eat in the area. I have to say I agree with them. If they're serving the Dime (Daim?) bar dessert, order it!

We ate here with friends on Thursday night and we all agreed it was one of the best meals we had ever eaten. Two of us had the carvery and two had the salmon. The carvery exceeded our expectations, being deliciously well cooked and well presented. We both had the rare beef (there is a choice of well-cooked if you... More

We tried to visit this pub on three occasions during our 1 week stay in the area. On the first visit, we were told that there was no room, but we didn't mind as it was Saturday evening and we hadn't booked. However, no mention was made about recommending we book. On the second occasion we still hadn't made a... More
