Stayed here for Easter weekend. Lovely place, especially for those with dogs. Restaurant was perhaps lacking a bit in character but food and service were excellent. Menu a little limited with a fair amount of fish. Not sure how often it changes but certainly worth...More

An overnight stay in a very dog friendly hotel on the bank of the River. Good walking nearby. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Will definitely visit again

The food we had was delightful, well cooked and served. The only downside was that it was a very restricted menu with only 4 choices for each course.

Staff great, starters superb, desserts excellent, mains.........disappointing. Roast beef? Well there was some, just about, perhaps enough for a small sandwich. The only veggie option? A miserly sized lukewarm risotto. Dreadful. Such a shame as this had become a regular venue for family Sunday meets.More

Food was neither here nor there....average at best, it was pretty atmosphere less and a little awkward, and in my opinion this experience did not represent value or a memorable dinning experience. I'd have been happier with a pub lunch somewhere. Pluses, charming location, clean...More

We had two meals in this restaurant whilst staying in the hotel. Food was lovely and we had great service. Highlights were a tasting menu with the most delicious tarte tatin and cinnamon ice cream. Great place for a treat of a meal

Description
A wonderful historic country retreat in the wilds of Dartmoor National Park, Mill End Restaurant is set within the boutique hotel of the same name. Dating back to the 15th century, Mill End is a beautifully preserved and sympathetically modernised building, at one time home to Sir Frank Whittle, inventor of the jet engine. The classic-modern dcor of the restaurant itself provides a light dining space during the day, become more intimate in the evening as the sun goes down and subdued lighting takes over. The shimmering silverware and polished glasses on pressed white tablecloths make the restaurant seem upmarket and romantic, as does of course the superb menu. Wayne Pearson oversees the kitchen here at Mill End, working with his team to prepare and serve freshly prepared high end cuisine making excellent use of the abundant local produce including fish from the Devon coast, locally grown vegetables and beef and game from the surrounding countryside. From relaxed breakfasts to hearty lunches, indulgent afternoon teas and refined dinners Mill End offers a stunning dining experience.
