Was in the area this weekend and thought we would call in. Looks to be boarded up, although a hand written notice says bar and restaurant closed, but accommodation available.......presumably without breakfast! Looked derelict.

Clean but It was like going back into the 1970's - main entrance door locked and remote control handed over on check in. Very narrow corridors so was concerned about getting out if there was a fire.

Based on the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor, travelled 20 miles each way to 'enjoy' a meal there - only to find the Smugglers Haunt closed - on a Saturday lunch time! Apparently that is their custom, although they don't mention it on their website...More
