I came here to eat early doors with my 3 young children, the lady behind the bar was so polite and helpful. She spoke to my children as well as myself and made us feel very welcomed. My kids ate up all their dinner and their dessert! When the locals came in they chatted away to us and we felt... More

My wife and I visited High Bickington last year and this pub was lovely.....friendly bar staff, friendly locals, and a wonderfully welcoming landlord who was also the chef, with great pub food, great prices and big portions, however this year when we visited it was totally different. We were staying for a week locally and on our first night decided... More

Visited this pub as was staying for week locally as a party of 10 people. It was the nearest to our holiday home and easily walkable so we felt we would be able to patronise it regularly over the course of the week. However, despite wifi being evident on our devices and locals at the bar clearly linked onto the... More

Recently visited here whilst staying in the village! It was a Thursday night and the pub was packed with locals having a beer and playing darts. Lovely atmosphere and the lady serving behind the bar was so friendly! I had the breaded Brie and cranberry to start and it was yummy!! For my main I ordered the rump steak and... More

We came here a couple of nights ago from Bales Ash campsite. 20 mins walk - which gave us the opportunity to enjoy a beer or two without taking the camper van! The pub is a 16th century inn - very cosy and we had a warm welcome. A good choice of food. Hubby and I had the homemade lamb... More

Visited here due to recommendations from others. I had sausage, mash, peas and onion gravy - was really nice! My husband had the lasagne, salad and got a side of chips - he enjoyed that too! We both had brownies for desert - they were super nice too! Staff are nice and the locals are friendly. We walked up from... More

We had a fabulous meal here, very reasonable price and excellent service. The locals are very friendly and welcoming which makes this place a must if you are in the area. Some great real ales, a genuine old local pub. Thanks to all at the George.

Thank Robert H
