I had a superb fillet steak cooked perfectly (medium rare). Double cooked chips and garlic mushrooms equally impressive. Others had the Espetadas, a Portuguese speciality of meat or seafood on a skewer. The place doesn’t look great from the outside but the food is amazing.

It was a lovely building, cosy. Not the widest menu but even I (World’s fussiest eater) found something I enjoyed - the mushroom ravioli and the apple crumble (not on the same plate of course). My boyfriend enjoyed his cider.

The staff were nice and pleasant but the lean to conservatory (which seemed like the only place we were allowed to drink outside) did feel miserable. Shame because 'Smugglers Inn' sounded brilliantly intriguing. All in all a very average experience.
