We stayed in Hunters Hotel for 2 nights while playing golf in Powerscourt and the European Club. The hotel is an old style but rooms were very clean. The bedrooms were very spacious ! The staff were excellent in particular Katka who took excellent care...of us. The food on both nights was excellent with some of the fruit and veg sourced from the gardens on the grounds. Would definitely return again for a cosy break away.More

This hotel is really for older folk who want to go back 50 years in time. The car park was full when we arrived so we thought it must be a great place - how disappointed we would be. We parked in the ‘overflow car...park’ aka a nearby field. We were eventually shown to our table, given the menu and an older waitress then approached us and gruffly asked ‘what do you want?’ - sadly no normal hospitality pleasantries! The drinks menu seemed non-existent as we weren’t asked if we would like to order wine until half way through our meal. The three course set menu (at nearly €40) was very poor value for money. My salmon starter was simply a thin salmon slice placed on the leaf of an iceberg lettuce. The main course veggies and potatoes were served on an stainless steel platter that reminded me of a school canteen - certainly not a suitable for a C21st hotel! The broccoli was mushy and one scoop of creamed potato and one overdone roast potato represented very poor value for money. We didn’t bother with the dessert. This was the most disappointing meal we had during our five nights in Wicklow and we certainly won’t be returning. If you are looking for a good meal - go to Greystones - there are plenty great options there!More

It was a very nice lunch - Staff nice. Service prompt. I think bread had been frozen because my roll was wet. Veg were cabbage and carrots overcooked in too much butter and salt-- its summer -- how about summer veg -- green beans, brocolli,...etc. Trout starter very good, cod very good, desserts were very good. Small thing --- the unused wine glasses remained on the table all service whereas they always be removed as soon as no wine being ordered.. The staff used the nice mantle-piece to store extra plates -- made it look shabby. Regardless, Hunters is a great venue for a lovely lunch and coffee in the garden.More

Friday evening dinner became a magical experience at the Hunter's Hotel Restaurant. On arrival we were shown to the bar. A wonderful room with floral fabric chairs, bright room with views to the garden. No loud music here. We were advised to take a look...at the garden prior to being seated for dinner. An amazing garden with mature trees and a wonderful vegetable garden. Dinner was a very homely, comforting feast. The Duck for mains was full of flavor, maybe a little overcooked, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the meal. It is like taking a step back to a much more relaxed way of dining. No loud music and very attentive and pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.Looking forward to another visit.More

We like this with our parents and grandparents and visiting folk because its from another era and maintains that wonderful atmosphere. Not fast food in any way so be prepared for a leisurely evening enjoying the company and garden views and wee bar for pre...meal drinks.More

Traditional Sunday lunch at Hunter's is simple old-school fare served in a room that skirts the fine line between old-school and just old. It's quirky and has more than its fair share of —how shall we say?—"patina", but the service was charming and the food...tasty, particularly the local lamb, the chicken pate and the salmon. Payment feels like something out of the 1930s but the food and more importantly the beautiful grounds means that we would definitely make the visit there again.More

Do you request a menu in advance of a dinner given by friends or family? Probably not. Think of Hunter's in the same way - you would never be disappointed there I can assure you.

Hi SIobhan C, I just rang Hunter's Hotel to enquire for you. Yes they do cater for vegan tastes, they would just need a bit of notice. So if you have an intention of going for lunch or dinner you will have to book anyway as... More
