I have lived in Greystones for 4 years minus 1, recently returned. I have just stepped off the DART...dreaming of a pint..happily the Burnaby is open for another half hour. Lunch here, its about a year since I had one but for the preceding two...it was always the Lasagne and a wine....always wonderful and as comfort food entirely enjoyable. I drink with others here and sometimes solo. It is always welcoming and hospitable , as this evening. The man behind the bar, Ray, could not be more affable, professional and attentive. Their internet is open and no accusation of freeloading without purchasing . I love the Burnaby for its genuine Irishness in the gentle and convivial nature of its staff and clientele. The Burnaby is special whether you are blessed in company or by yourself in peacefulness....back now to the exceptional Guinness that Ray has brought before closing. If something is good more is better...unfortunatley, there is time only for two!!!More

Excellent burger, chowder first class with proper chunks of fish! Great pub atmosphere but up market gastro feel. Andy our host was super welcoming, attention to detail and anticipation of what we needed next - sharp and on-point service par excellance! Bit of sport on...TV, golf on one screen and racing on the other. Perfect pint! Beer garden lovely out the back, 50 covers outside.. plenty of space and in the sun ☀️ Traditional pub with a gastro spin and friendly staff with too notch pub grub classics.More

Comfortable pub to have lunch with friendly service. Salmon on flatbread with salmon on wrap & warm chicken wrap was stone cold chicken wrap. If what's not available on the menu you should be told.

Three of us visited for lunch last Friday. We chose chicken supreme, polenta with veg from the menu. We asked for the sauce on the side as two of us don’t eat cream. We were told it would take about 25 mins but didn’t mind...as we weren’t in a hurry. When the food arrived it was actually potatoes, not polenta, and gravy in a small pot on the side, not white supreme sauce. We let that go as by now we were hungry. However one bite of the chicken revealed it was tainted, or off. We drew it to the attention of the waitress who took it away full of apologies. We decided we didn’t want to have anything else instead as the taste of the chicken was still in our mouths. The waiter who had served us initially arrived after about five minutes and told us very loudly that for our information the chicken was most definitely not off, but we were entitled to our opinion and that he would take it off the bill. (!) We stated that in our opinion the chicken was most definitely off, and we didn’t want anything else. He argued aggressively insisting we were wrong and that we didn’t have as much experience in cooking chicken as he had, which was a bit strange as he was actually the waiter. My mother has been cooking chicken for over sixty years, having reared a large family, and both myself and my sister have some considerable experience in cooking and eating chicken also. It’s not exactly rocket science. I asked to speak to the manager at the bar and whilst he was not rude he too insisted that the chicken was not off, that it had only been taken as an order the day previously. So I suggested he eat it but he informed me that no indeed they would be serving it to the staff later for their dinner. The poor staff in my opinion. Hopefully none of them were sick afterwards. A bizarre experience which we have no intention of repeating, ever. Appalling customer service.More

We went for smoked salmon and chicken wings to start, both absolutely gorgeous and really generous portions. We met friends after a year of not seeing them. We met in Greystones and decided on the Burnaby. Lots of space between tables, some privacy screens made of perspex so light and bright and certs were checked. We felt comfortable and enjoyed the food...immensely. It was well presented, cooked beautifully and decent sized portions. The staff were attentive and responsive and it was a lovely quiet Sunday evening. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the set up, we will be returning soon.More

Living in greystones 12 years and for them 12 years I would pop in for a pint but my wife would never join me as she thought it was just for men and none of us never liked the food, but it’s our local and...so close to home, since after Covid we heard they have changed their kitchen staff and took it over themselves, we went down for a drink and this lovely gentleman Andy was so so pleasant the nicest member of staff I met in any pub or restaurant one that would bring you back, with that we went back the following week for food, the food has gone from abysmal to somewhere I would eat quite regularly now, for a place we would rarely visit as a family we now find ourselves frequently visiting and all of that is down to Andy and we feel so welcome clearly a man at the top of his game in hospitality a much needed addition to the Burnaby,More

Decided to bring the grandparents out for lunch in grey stones on Tuesday & we drove easily what was an hour trip down. When we got into grey stones & finished looking at some of the shops we decided to pop in for some lunch....This is where it went down hill rapidly. Bear in mind both my grandparents are 85+ years old. On arrival, we waited to be seated & one of the waiters had asked for our Vaccine passports. My Grandfather had left his in the car & rather than make an 85 year old man walk all the way back to the car I spoke to the waiter who was very dismissive. None the less I asked if my grandparents could sit while I ran back to the car to get it for him. While I ran back, both my grandparents had placed an order for drinks from the same waiter. Very simple order of 1 pint of Guinness, 1 pint of orchard thieves & 1 glass of white wine. It had taken me a little over 5 mins to get to the car & walk back. I had taken a seat & looked over the menu. Having worked in Hospitality for 5+ years I do understand that some restaurants & bars can be overwhelmed with customers, but after waiting for what was easily 10+ mins I had asked a different waiter could they take our order & I mentioned about the drink order. While I was up, I had counted 4 staff & only 9 other’s customers in the restaurant. Now one would think that if you kindly reminded a staff member about a drink order that may have been forgotten it would be looked after. I sat in utter disbelief at how unorganized the service was. This was on a Tuesday at 3pm, after lunch service & before dinner service. I would hate to see what a busy weekend would be like. After 35 mins passed since the initial order was placed, we left. I was left in disbelief that they didn’t even deliver on the drink order & their was no sign of the food. To also refer back, after me running back to get my Grandfather’s vaccine passport. The same waiter who initially was dismissive never even checked it. Serious issue with customer service & table service. In all the years of worked in Hospitality I’ve never seen anything like it. Have one bar tender responsible for organizing your drink orders & then your staff taking the orders & delivering out food & drinks. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Plenty of other restaurants & cafe’s that will deliver & be more deserving of your custom.More

I had previously visited this premises and was very impressed. As I was visiting Greystones again I was looking forward to a return visit; however I was disappointed on this occasion. The menu was much different than my previous visit with a much reduced selection....We were given our drinks and menu but after 30 minutes nobody had taken our order. We eventually got the attention of the server and placed our order. When the food arrived it was very nice and everyone was satisfied with their meal, but it had taken nearly one hour to be served just a main course. After we finished our meal nobody came to clear the table and offer a dessert menu and I had to go to the bar and ask for a server to bring us a menu. Again when the food arrived it was very nice but again nobody came to clear the table. We were in the premises for over two hours to have a two course meal. While we were in no hurry, I can imagine this level of service would be very frustrating if you were. Overall the staff were friendly, the food was nice, but the menu selection was poor and the service was worse. Management need to take control of the situation or it will impact the business in the long term.More
