Four of us had dinner here. Really warm welcome and shown to a very nice table. Nice selection of beverages recommended and turned out that the advice was great . Menu easy to read and specials on the board. People working there really on top...of their job and knowledgeable on choices. Thanks to the owners and staff at the Hungry Monk! We had a wonderful night last Friday - celebrating a 50th birthday, and couldn't have enjoyed it more. The owners and staff looked after us really well, and helped us out with keeping the dinner...a surprise for the birthday boy. The food was delicious - and they indulged him when he asked if they had a fillet steak instead of the sirloin which was on the menu (he thought it was fantastic when he tucked in). They also allowed us to bring our own cake, and led the singing when it was coming to the table, which made us feel very welcome. It was a great night, and we're very happy to see the Hungry Monk going strong again.More

Went here recently for Sunday lunch which was fantastic. We were greeted by Julian at the door who was so welcoming and great craic. Good to see COVID tracing and sanitiser everywhere. We both had the “legendary”roast beef and it didn’t disappoint. Enough food on...a plate to feed an army !!! Great selection of local beers too which were served in a frozen glass, nice touch. Looking forward to revisiting soon.More

Service charge of 10% that was not mentioned or shown online for below par service at best. There were 3 of, i had chicken which was tasteless and appeared to be frozen as bones were black and certainly not free range as stated. Also kept...taking mask down.More

Really disappointed with our overall experience in the Hungry Monk. We booked a table for two. When we got there, we realised pretty quickly that they were understaffed. We waited for our table. We ordered a starter and 2 main courses. We got our starter...50 minutes after putting in the order. I’m 7 months pregnant and felt sick with hunger. When I asked about our starter I was told by the waitress that the kitchen staff were “hammered”, no apologies given. The tortellini pasta dish was lovely and the risotto was tasteless. I’m not sure if that was as a result of it being rushed out. We used the sauce from the pasta to add flavour to the risotto. I was a waitress for many years and would have always apologised for food being served late or made up for it in some way. We wouldn’t have booked a table had we of known it would take so long to serve the food. Overall a very disappointing experience.More

With Covid restrictions in place we decided to get a takeaway from our favorite local eatery. It didn’t disappoint!!! Great chicken wings, beef bourguignon that melted in the mouth and fish n chips that would feed an army!!!! Really enjoyed and already looking forward to...another one 😀😀More
