Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Drove past and it looked nice so we decided to stop for lunch. The fish tank was a big hit with our 5 year old however things went down from there. We ordered and went to get the kids hands washed; the state of the...Toilets was appalling, toilets not flushing in gents or ladies etc. Slapdash delivery of our drinks. Kids food arrived 5 well before ours and the "cocktail" sausages were literally a regular sausage chopped up and thrown in a deep fat fryer, and left in too long. Goujons looked as brown as you could get. Rip off at €10 for kids meal. The seafood chowder arrived with a skin on the top- clearly just out of the microwave and they didn't even bother to stir or remove the film. Again left in too long and resulted in a burned tongue. Fish and chips equally poor appearance; the smallest piece of fish imaginable , which was also left in the deep fat fryer far too long. The plate was mostly taken up with a bowl of tasteless mushy peas and a bowl of tartare sauce. Everything far too salty. The family were starving so food got eaten however we will not be returning - the kids asked to leave and didn't even want to wait for the ice cream that was part of the kids menu (at€10 again an expensive kids meal) Waiting staff didn't seem too bothered. I let one of them know our feedback as we left, hope they listen or in the minimum other families don't fork out €60 for lunch of terrible food that even the Kids were disgusted with.More

I have left this restaurant extremely upset and unhappy with our treatment. Myself and staff brought our service users who have special needs to the restaurant today and from the minute we walked in the door we were treated with disrespect by one female staff....One of our service users was given out to for walking through a way apparently he shouldn’t have (no signs to state this). The experience was so uncomfortable for both staff and service users particularly when the female staff started given out to another staff for the bill being split. Our service users all pay separately everywhere they go and we have never had a problem anywhere with this before. We have even been to this restaurant before and there was no issue. The food was gorgeous and I cannot fault that. Also the man who was serving the coffee was very friendly and accommodating. I can understand that people can have bad days but this whole experience really upset me when it is difficult enough for staff bringing young people with special needs who have sensory issues and anxieties out for food in the community. There’s a way to treat people and that’s not it.More

This is a family owned restaurant and the food and service is excellent. They are well priced and are busy all day. The have great covid precautions including cert checks, contact tracking and hand gel on every table. 👍👏👏

Very good seafood chowder and well located just next to the train station. The service is a bit chaotic but has its charm.

Worst food in Greystones and probably in Ireland, disastrous service, dodgy cleanliness, avoid at any cost. I had a tasteless meat burger grilled from frozen, my wife had a veggie burger probably from Lidl, Apologies for sounding probably to harsh but I’m just being honest...this is the realityMore

Friendly staff and very quick service. Looking around the place needed a good clean. Crumbs on the floor from previous customers ect. Toilets need updating and put me off washing my hands, in general unhygienic.

We decided to have dinner in Buoys Kitchen on a Sunday afternoon in July. We were greeted by a really lovely waitress and given our choice of tables. Bizarrely, we were then presented with two menus, one from Buoys Kitchen and one from a Chinese...takeaway. When I queried this, I was told that if we didn't like the Buoys Kitchen menu, we could order from the Chinese takeaway menu. This obviously didn't inspire confidence in the kitchen, to say the least. Apparently, the proprietor of Buoys Kitchen also owns a local Chinese takeaway! I proceeded to order the 28 Day Dry Aged 8oz Ribeye Steak and my partner ordered the Chilli Prawn Linguini. It was obvious to me that my steak wasn't great quality meat. To be fair, my partner said that her linguini was 'tasty'. We asked if we could have a latte and a cappuccino 'to go'. These were so bad that we ended pouring them down a drain before we got back into our car. Again, we couldn't have asked for a nicer waitress but the food and drinks were a disappointment.More

Had a terrible experience in here last Thursday. The staff had poor communication skills and created utter chaos to the point where we had to ask three separate people for the likes of salt/pepper or water kept being forgotten about. The food was overpriced, overcooked...and really bland. And look, those of us who have been waiters in our time have a certain level of understanding of the service is a little lacking due to it being a waiters first week or something like that. But when I asked for my pasta to be wrapped up, I was just annoyed when the manager just handed me a box then walked away, leaving me to awkwardly spoon it from my plate. I know it's not a massive thing but it just gave "we don't care" vibes. It was the cherry on top of an overall bad service. Considering the price of the food, this just wasn't on. I really wanted to like this place as the dishes looked fabulous online but I was very disappointed.More

Service was the worst I’ve seen in a long time. Staff looked disinterested. We had to follow up with them several times to try and catch their attention. it was not busy, and there was no order- we had 4 different servers, all of which,...were not interested. We asked for a jug of water which was forgotten about. Food was ok. Not worth the prices. Would not recommendMore

We went to Buoys Kitchen for our breakfast this morning (Sunday 11/07/21) and it was delicious! I had the French Toast with bacon, a coffee and an apple juice... and it was so tasty. I would definately recommend it! The staff were so lovely and...good craic. The only downside was the weather which was a bit cold, blustery and drizzly... but don't let that stop you! Delicious food; great staff; priced within normal rates for the area... sure, what are you waiting for? ;)More

Went for Sunday lunch with my husband. Got a lovely seat in a booth beside the window. Felt very safe as all the booths had screens between them. Very relaxing atmosphere with lovely piano music. Service was excellent, if not over friendly, and the food...was very very good. Had chowder and my husband had a cajun chicken ciabatta. The chowder was to die for, full of fish pieces and mussels and piping hot, best chowder I've had in a long while and the ciabatta was excellent. Really great lunch and can't wait for next visit.More

If food is art, the chef at Buoy's Kitchen is surely an artist. Ordered a simple bowl of granola for breakfast. What a feast for the eyes...natural yogurt, honey and a huge variety of berries. I almost didn't want to eat it given how perfect...it was. Of course, I did and it was delicious. Really set me up for my cliff walk to Bray. Highly recommended :)More

My dear friend and I booked lunch for my birthday, great to be back out again, a bit of normal, forgotten how good it is to have your meal cooked and served to you, We always have a lovely experience in Bouys, home made chowder,...full of fish pieces, a meal in its self, but it was my birthday!! so we also ordered O'brother beer battered fresh Hake & chips, served with pea puree and tartar sauce, delish! Perfect light crispy batter the we like it, well done kitchen!! Washed it down with a light new world crisp white wine, frotty coffees to finish, to my delight I was presented with a candle lit chocolate slice after the coffees arrived, timing is everthing I think, perfect day, good food, relaxing safe surroundings, very busy place you do need to book in advance due to covid but so worth it, thank you to all the staff in and outside the kitchen, very professional and friendly eatery, open for breakfast every day up to 12pm and Dinner in the evening Thursday - Sunday 5-9pm. I am so glad they made it through the shut down, we would really miss them.More

I visited there yesterday & was impressed by the freestanding thermometer at the entrance to check the temperature of the patrons but sadly that's where the respect for health ends. We were seated in the only available space which was right by the door but...that gave us a full view of the door, the customers entering the premises & the inconsistent checks. One member of staff repeatedly asked people to check their temperature at the entrance but never once asked anyone to wear a face covering-which is now mandatory . On one occasion when he himself went outside I had to ask him to put his visor back on as he had gone back behind the counter & was preparing food. He also came in from outside after touching the front door handle without cleaning his hands . The food is gorgeous. Well presented & tasty. The female members of staff polite & helpful but it is so relaxed in it's proceedings that it will quickly become a hot spot for infections.More
