Hendley's is really nice takeaway. The choice is excellent from fish, burgers and kebabs. The have really nice fish which I would recommend. It isn't too expensive and the staff are friendly. At the moment you can't sit down but that's fine as it's safer.

Stopping off here for a quick bag of chips, we were surprised to see that there was an eat in facility, which we availed of. The service was prompt, very friendly in clean surroundings overlooking the river, Our order developed into 2 breasts of chicken...and chips with two Cokes, The chicken was cooked just right and the breasts were of a generous size, with plenty of accompanying chips. A substantial meal for less than €20. Well worth stopping here.More

This is a little gem in avoca village . It’s a great restaurant and takeaway with simple comfort food at a great price . I’ve eaten here since I was a child and can’t fault the food or service

Had excellent fish and chips, and chicken nuggets. Saw burgers being cooked too while waiting and they looked very good too. Service is very friendly and food cooked fresh, but not a long wait. It is possible to call ahead and order. Seems very popular...with locals which is usually a good sign!More

Traveling south after an awesome morning in Glendalough, we ventured into Avoca in the hunt for what we believed were some mighty fine fish & chips. We headed into the very modest shop of Ms. Hendley to watch as she dipped our fresh cod fillets...in batter and laid them into the rolling boil of the fryer. Hot, fresh and sooo tasty this was a satisfying F&C lunch worth the drive (if you are in the area). One in our party had a salad instead of the hand cut chips; don’t bother. Salad was pedestrian, chips sublime. Great value. A lunch I will remember.More

Who would have thought we would be having a meal at the back of Kathleen's store? The fish and chips were hot and fresh and judging by the number of locals calling in for takeaway, they have a good reputation. The lady in charge was...very busy but still had time for a friendly word.More

Got a bag of chips here today when I was on my lunch and they were lovely and fresh. Tasty and the staff were nice so that's a bonus. There's a nice little shop with lots in it too close to the cafe.

We had a nice dinner at Hendley's on Thursday, 11 May 2017. We ordered from the counter & took it to our table which overlooked the river. The food was relatively inexpensive, the lady at the counter was super, and the Fish & Chips were...great!More

My wife and I currently stayed near Avoca and decided to swing down to township and grab some dinner and check out what Avoca had to offer. We popped in to the shop and were greeted by the friendly staff, and checked out the variety...of choices they had to offer. Once we ordered we sat down in the dine-in area which gives a nice view of the river running through the town. The food didn’t take to long to be ready and we were both quite pleased with our meals after we finished up, the food was so good it felt like it was my local fish and chip shop from down the road. The price wasn’t to bad for the amount of food and quality either. So overall I’d recommend the Hendley Fish & Chip as great place to grab either a meal or snack if you’re in the area.More
