We were on a coach trip around the Wicklow mountains. We were taken by the driver to Avoca where Ballykiss Angels was filmed. As it was lunch time we were shepherded into Fitzgerald's, our order taken, fed and watered and given the bill, all in...the space of 40 minutes. To be fair the food was ok, not the best we have had, but, by no means the worst. I had fish and chips, the fish was nice but the batter a tad dry. My wife had tuna melt, not quite the way she was used to but filling all the same. Would I go again... been there, seen it, done it...not to be repeated.More

Fitzgeralds Pub is great. We had lunch there. Never before have I had a Brie Spring Roll but it was lovely! Chips were great and the fish was superb. Great service. Episodes of Ballykissangel on loop. What more could I ask for?

After a long day of hiking in Glendalough we stopped into this small restaurant offering an incredible menu of daily specials. I had stuffed mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce with a delicious salad of greens!!! Lisa our server quickly filled our pints and brought...food out very quickly so that we could eat and be on our way to explore. This is a MUST!!!!More

Years ago, we fell in love with the Irish series, Ballykissangel (borrow it from library). Well, NO ONE could tell us where Ballykissangel was, because though the town was named this in the series, it was filmed in Avoca, Ireland. So on our last full...day in Ireland, we drove two hours south and presto! we were in the village that imprinted our memories, exactly as filmed, it remains frozen in time. A little village, with church, the local bar, Fitzgeralds- where all activity revolved, and along with the local food store Hendleys, and the little narrow bridge overlooking the most picturesque town you can see -- all brought back the memories of a wonderful tv series popular about ten years ago. Of course we had to have a wee one at the bar, and walked around reading the displayed posters featuring our favorite stars of old.More

We were disappointed having walked to Avoca Village that there was no Food available to eat in the evenings, however the lounge did look very nice and a birthday party was just beginning. We left to find an alternative for our Dinner.

The Guinness was poor. The disabled toilet had no soap a trickle of water and nothing to dry your hands. My sister politely told the barmaid who shrugged her shoulders and said I'll tell them. No apology or apparent interest. Disappointing

If you haven't viewed the scenes of Avoca in the Ballykissangel series please do. Irish humor and village drama at its best. Couldn't pass up the chance to down a pint while visiting this quaint and quiet village.
