We were looking forward to making a reservation for Saturday evening at the The Bistro. We have dined there many times previously, however this time when we phoned a week in advance to reserve a table we were advised that they do not take reservation...until the following Thursday. When phoned on Thursday I was advised that there was no availability left and it was completely booked out. I was extremely disappointed, because not only no alternative time was offered but now I have missed out on making reservation else where being a loyal customer due to lack of communication. this is Gorey's best restaurant. You pay (it's not cheap) what you get (good food). Wine list is another thing that sets the Bistro apart from other locations restaurants. You will have to book. Personnel is very adequate, friendly and knowledgable. The food is good....I do like to see some changes as there are many plates that has been on the menu for a good few years. Love the daily specials. Would go there every week if I could afford it.More

A random choice brought us to the Bistro. The service atmosphere and friendliness of staff is quickly apparant. We had an excellent choice of menu and wines. The meals were well presented and quickly produced. The food was of a very high quality children are...welcome. The desserts aah leave a little room. Top class.More

This is the best restaurant in Gorey and to be fair we have a really good selection of excellent restaurants to choose from! The atmosphere is great, always a buzz about the place but with enough privacy to enjoy catching up with friends. But it...is ALL about the food! I started off with scallops- now I mean big juicy gorgeous scallops in a finger licking sauce. Others opted for spicy prawns pils pils, and sticky sweet chilli chicken pieces in a filo basket, aromatic duck spring rolls in a homemade bar-b-q sauce, all were devoured mercilessly. I opted for the crispy half duck on a herb stuffing in a burnt orange sauce, cooked to perfection! The hubby had surf and turf with friends opting for the special, delicious Black sole in lemon butter sauce. I do not know how owner chef James Bursey ALWAYS cooks every course to perfection and it is no surprise that he is renowned for his incredible sauces. The wine flowed, with the house Merlot and Malbec always our firm favourites. We were too full for dessert but what an evening of great food, fab wine and excellent service from Tina and her team. We will be back for more very soon.More

Good value for money. Attentive staff and nice ambiance. Went on the waitresses recommendation for red wine and wasn’t disappointed.

Just had my sons confirmation meal in The Bistro and “wow” what a great experience. The service was amazing, the waitress was so friendly and attentive to everyone. There was a great choice on the menu and the chef was more than willing to adapt...any option for the picky teenagers. For value, food and service I have to give it 💯. Everybody came home raving about it. I must say we were delighted with it and very reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Looking forward to my next visit. Keep up the good work.More

Beautiful 👌🏻 Excellent Menu with lots of variety, especially for a menu that changes Nightly. This in itself is an amazing touch nowadays. Compliments to the chef 🤌🏻 Food is divine Surf n Turf was Top Quality great portions and very well priced would have...paid more elsewhere, Fish Dishes likewise Prawn Starter and Scallops Mains divine. New Waitress only started I believe that night or night before, Exceptional very attentive and nice. (Didn’t get her name) Only Negative for us was the wait on the bill As I said very minor negative, wouldn’t let it hamper my visit and definitely wouldn’t stop me coming back again and again as the food was Top Quality and atmosphere to match.More

The food here is just amazing. I've never had a bad meal. It's on the pricier side so not somewhere you would go every weekend but makes it a nice treat. Steak is divine as are the desserts. The only thing I could fault is...that the surroundings don't quite match the food. But it is definitely the place to go and let the food do the talking.More
