I understand we only have an hour and a half to sit at the table but I was in and out in an hour. Starter, main and desert. I felt the plates were only gone after the starter and the main was in front of...me one second later. It’s not cheap and it is a treat to go but was really disappointed by this as I felt under pressure. Apart from that the food is amazing and will be going again as it’s one of my favourite Resteraunts.More

I took my wife to The Bistro for Valentine's Day, so I was hoping for a really good meal. From the time we arrived until the moment we left, we were left almost speechless by how good the food and the service turned out to...be. Someone had joked to me that they had heard the food was good but that the portions could be a bit small, so I might want to leave time to stop for a bag of chips on the way home. NOTHING could have been further from the truth. I went with the rib-eye steak, while my wife opted for the Surf-n-Turf. Starting with hers, a very generous double portion of fillet steak, cooked to perfection, was accompanied by shrimp and monkfish. My wife said it was the best she'd ever tasted. I like my steak medium rare, but it so seldom arrives cooked the way I like it. In this instance, I couldn't have asked for it to be any better. The steak itself was really thick, tender and seasoned to perfection. The sauteed onions and sauteed potatoes were sublime, and I had my choice of pepper sauce or garlic butter...so I took both, which the good-natured waiter served with a smile. Even the massive onion ring on top of the steak was perfectly battered and not a bit greasy, as has so often been the case. We went with the French Malbec...slightly more expensive than the Argentinian variety but not over-priced and well worth the price. In summary, we literally could not fault one thing about the meal, and the restaurant itself was lovely; nice music, not too loud, tables arranged so that we didn't feel like anyone was listening in...the list goes on. If you're in Gorey and like good steak, give this place a try! Suffice it to say, you won't be going for chips on the way home!More

We are locals and dine now and then in this restaurant. Its more expensive than most restaurants in the vicinity but its worth it when wo go occasionally. The food is excellent and we have not been disappointed once. Selection of wines is up to...date. Good ambiance. Is it worth your money; absolutely around 50 euro pp for starter main-course is the norm.More

We frequently travel from the UK and always book The Bistro before we come over. Tina and the team are so welcoming. The food is fantastic and worth every cent. As they only open Thursday - Saturday you must make a reservation.

I dined in the Bistro recently for a family meal, the group consisted of 11 including two toddlers, the staff were all on the ball and very attentive! It was a busy Saturday evening however the Bistro team were on top of their game, we...were greeted and seated seamlessly with a warm welcome from all staff members. The menu had a wide array of dishes to cater for all. Everyone at the table was extremely pleased with their meal as the food is very tasty. One note to make was that it did get very warm in the restaurant during our meal, the staff were aware and made their best efforts to neutralise the temperature however this is understandable considering the time of year it is. As a whole the group found the meal to be good value and quite enjoyable. All round great evening and can’t wait to go back!More

Restaurant has a great ambiance and is very cozy. Great choice on the menu. I had black pudding for starter but was not the best I have ever had. Pudding was just average and served with salad. I had scallops in Gorgonzola sauce for main...and the scallops were cooked perfect although I thought there was too much sauce on the plate. Next time I would ask for the sauce on the side. My friend had the steak and It was fabulous and cooked perfect as she asked. Prices were average and I would return.More
