Small, family run restaurant with excellent fish and chips served in a box so you can dine in or by the sea. We didn’t book for lunch, but had no problem ordering to eat outside.
They have made a big effort to protect customers and staff with social distancing, hand sanitiser and face masks. It did make the ordering process a bit awkward and slow however, the food was fresh and tasty so it was well worth the wait!

Sat outside munching on our seafood chowders, while admiring the stunning view on a glorious day. We also ordered a fish and chip box which came with salad and sauces. Absolutely the nicest chowders and fish was so soft just broke off. A real treat to dine at Eithnas. Beautiful seaside village, full of families. Great job guys

We took a pit stop in this little village to grab a coffee and spotted this place was really busy so obviously popular.
We treated ourselves to a brownie which was amazingly tasty and served warm with cream on the side. Yum yum! Unfortunately our coffee wasn't great, it was watery and our latte was most definitely not a latte.
Lot of people were eating savory food and it looked amazing.
Worth a stop, even just for a brownie!

We stopped for a quick coffee and dessert and a baby chino(frothy milk in a takeaway cup) for our 3 year old toddler.
What we got was awful.
We got 2 latte cups that were half filled with horrible coffee. I declined chocolate on the baby chino. Low and behold when the baby chino came out it was a half a cup of coffee that had layers of chocolate powder on it. (See pic below)
I went back in and the staff replaced all 3 drinks with no issue and apologised.
When the new drinks came out the coffee cups were full and so was the baby chino. Unfortunately the coffee was still bad and the chino was so hot it burned my mouth before I gave it to my toddler.
At this point i wasn't going back in to get more bad coffee.
It's highly disappointing going into a restaurant that has a massive coffee business and the coffee is just terrible.
Desserts were OK.

Food served indoors in a leaking cardboard box, chips in a bag which tasted exactly like frozen chips from the supermarket. Even if a place does takeaway if you eat indoors they could provide a plate. Prawns tasteless in lots of butter and well overpriced at €15.

Very disappointed with the lack of organisation and or encouragement by staff for customers to social distance during this time. No soap or hand towels in the ladies toilets. Food was lovely but this tiny cafe was too packed with customers both inside and out for our comfort. I wouldn't recommend visiting this cafe while the Government guidelines are still in place for social distancing during the global pandemic.

Hi Jenny,
We are glad that you enjoyed your food at Eithna's by the Sea and it is unfortunate that you experienced this whilst you were here. We would have appreciated if you let us know of your concerns at the time and one of our staff could have gladly resolved the issue for you. In addition, our staff are fully trained in COVID Training specifically for restaurant employees. From numerous reviews, you will also see that they are friendly and welcoming. Furthermore, as a proud member of Failte Ireland's Safety Charter, we are committed to upkeeing the guidelines laid out by the government in relation to coronavirus. There are multiple signage and posters outlining our systems in place, a designated queuing area and we have removed some tables from our downstairs area in order to facilitate social distancing. All of our staff also wear face masks and there are multiple hand sanitisers around the restaurant. All of this has been well received by our customers and this is shown by the comments on TripAdvisor and Google. We would therefore welcome you again to Eithna's by the Sea in full confidence for both your own safety and the safety of our staff.
Kind regards,
Eithna's by the Sea Team

Three of us enjoyed a perfect lunch at Eithna’s today and each of us was delighted with our choices of mackerel with chips, half a lobster and crab claws with prawns. The seafood was really fresh and delicious and the portions were very generous. It was the best we’d tasted in a long time and was also excellent value. Covid 19 precautions were carefully observed. If you are in the north Sligo area do not miss this gem of a restaurant.

I visited Eithna’s By the Sea on a number of occasions last week whilst on holiday in Mullaghmore.
The restaurant is located on the seafront with great outdoor space to relax and watch the world go by.
I had the mussels, fish and chips and scones, which were all fantastic. I also think the food is reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of what they serve.

My wife a friend and I had lunch in Ethna's yesterday. The ladies had the fish and chips which they really enjoyed plenty of it and they really liked the crumb coating. I had the burger and it was very tasty and filling. It was also very reasonably priced considering it was July and packed with holidaymakers. The staff were very helpful and attentive and they really couldn't enough to their credit. All the necessary covid protocols were adhered to. We would and will return without hesitation.

Worst fish and chips ever. At €14 per portion, you would expect a reasonable meal for your money.
However, we came here as we were touring in our campervan and decided, after a lovely day on the beach, to treat ourselves.
Upon opening, it looked nice but the chips were not home cut which you would expect at the price. A salad took up a quarter of the box and the fish, although fresh but had lots of bones in it(6 in each we counted) .
The small tub of tartare sauce was filled about 1/3 of the way.
All in all, it was thoroughly disappointing. We’ve had take away Fish & Chips ranging from €7.50-€10.50 which have been much more delicious.

We arrived looking forward some nice seafood supporting our local economy. There were people sitting outside the beach hotel and pier head had others around. It's nice to see this. There was sanitizer and tissue on the table at the door.Staff were face shields and were busy. They were sanitizing our table so we waiting until it was ready. We were offered the wine menu after getting to our table and we were promptly served. We ordered the mussels which was a main and shared it as a starter. We ordered the salmon risotto which was amazing and the raspberry roulade sponge dessert and icecream which was so good. Cappuccino and Tea was nice. Overall service was good. It was a busy restaurant which was great to see, staff were nice and friendly and we felt safe been there. The new normal is what it is. Good company, good food and reasonably priced. We did think the interior including the chairs could do with a good overhaul. It wasnt that it looked bad, simply a little outdated. Overall would recommend it.

We stopped by today Sunday for a snack. We had a coffee and a hot chocolate accompanied by a traybake called a Powerball which was a lovely mixture of sultanas, oats and seaweed. Was delicious served with cream. The restaurant also serves meals - it was very busy with a quick turnaround despite so many people coming through. There are tables upstairs and downstairs and a few outside. Very convenient to the harbour.

Went in for a fish and chip and a burger and chip takeaway and was charged €37, absolutely shocking. I would understand if we were sitting in and the food was good, the food was mediocre at best and whoever prepares your fish needs to learn how to debone them, I was getting bones every bite. Will be making sure I tell anybody who mention the place to avoid. We were charged your restaurant price for take away and over charged by €5 at that. Picture attached of the €15 burger

Disappointed.. I also want to complain at the till because I would not want to make scene. This is a very small restaurant with no privacy
The Cod was absolutely bland. Coleslaw really nice.
A roll that was supposed to be sour dough was not and 6 prawns far from king for 18 euro was ridiculous and nothing to accompany the roll except for some leaves and dressing
The chowder was also bland and although the people I was with found seafood in their chowder, I barely had any.
I was excited to eat at your restaurant today I only had an apple for breakfast.
Such a shame because decor, cleanliness and staff were great. The food nice but I could not stretch for more than that. I asked my partner to pay because I would have to give my opinion and I did not want to as I said in the beginning.
I am not trying to be awful, just disappointed.
I did email the owner and said exactly as above. She offered to mail a voucher to allow us a second chance. I accepted the over, thinking maybe it was just a bad day. However the voucher never appeared. I won't get the second chance to here again but I am more than good about that.

We were visiting Mullaghmore and a friend had told us about Eithna's. The lady in charge (possibly Eithna?) did her best to find us a table outside even though it looked very busy. We had the fish and chips. I thought they were divine - super tasty and accompanied by a nice house slaw. My partner would have preferred a more traditional take on the fish batter so if you expect the usual thick batter you might be disappointed! It was more of a delicate, golden crumb, which I loved. We both enjoyed the meal, with the lovely view and nice atmosphere. The cakes inside looked great too but we were too full for them. A gorgeous red setter from a neighbouring premises walked past a few times and if you showed an interest he was very happy to be rubbed - a nice bonus!
