Had a beautiful lunch here this afternoon. Warm welcome, lovely menu and reasonably priced. The food was gorgeous, lovely home made chips too which we really appreciated. But most of all,the service from the two lovely ladies who served us. Sorry I didn't get their names...but one lady had a trainee badge on. So friendly and approachable, and as my friend said " they made recommendations " when we asked. Would highly recommend and will definetly return!More

I was at a flower demo today in Portlaoise and went in to have something to eat. What a surprise to go into such a nice place to be served by such friendly staff and to have a very tasty brie and bacon panini served...with a lovely salad and sweet potato chips.More

heard good things about the bay tree so decided to take my fiancé out for Mother’s Day breakfast today , got a table for two , we were served by a trainee ordered our food and received our toast first before drinks then to put...matters worst a table of 8 came in 20 minutes after us and sat down and we here starving still no drinks at this time and the table of 8 getting served drinks but we said we give the trainee a chance 35 minutes came still no drinks and to make it worse it was only a tea and orange juice what’s so hard about that !! After 40 minutes we got impatient and said something 45 minutes and then received drinks and then a senior member asked everything okay we told her waiting for 45 minutes and told her our order 5 minutes later came out with our food which was wrong and then she came back with the food for use like she was FEEDING PIGS and threw it onto our plates , we justed wanted out of her at this stage to be honest and ate our food and then went to pay and the manager or head of the till area asked was everything okay we replied honestly and to make it even worst the senior staff member started saying she did apologise to cover her back yet when my fiancé replied but you through the food that was missing from our plate on she threw a huff smacked her pen and walked off !!! Well thanks for ruining our DAY!!!! I wouldn’t recommend this treatment to ANYONE!!!More

We have stopped at The Bay Tree after a hike coming back to town and the staff is super friendly and helpful, the service is quick, we could sit outside and enjoyed being on the terrace, a bit away from the street, we could have...stayed hours! We'd love to go back on our next visit in Portlaoise! (the little town has stolen our hearts and we don't understand why it is not advertized more!). See you soon!More

We [my wife, 5yr old and 1 yr old and I] arrived late into Portloais on a Sunday, absolutely famished. Found this little gem called ???The Blue Bay???? getting ready to close the kitchen for the day. The waiter must have read our anguish and...ushered us to a table with a very warm welcome. The food arrived promptly and was very pleasantly surprised, especially considering we were the very last customer of the day... Such friendly staff who brought smiles to our kids each time they passed. Laois hospitality at its finest *****More
