A warm summer Friday evening sitting in the courtyard to enjoy a really nice meal and bottle of wine. In these challenging times its difficult to find somehwere to relax yet the Vie managed it. The mussels starter followed by a fish special was spot on served in a Le Cruset pan with nice crisp veg and my wife had the risotto which she really enjoyed. The courtyard is an area we generally walked through but in these restricted times it is proving a lovely venue itself well sheltered and nicely lit yet with reassuring gentle breeze to keep that virus at bay. The service as always was top notch.

First time back in two years, the place was buzzing on a January Tuesday. Staff very pleasantly professional, food excellent, we like that there is no music. The Fillet Steak, Stone Bass and Apple Tart Fine all particularly memorable. Booked for 7.00pm, expecting the Early Bird, but after losing 10 minutes to find a parking anywhere close it was maybe minutes late when we came in and there was no flexibility for the Early Bird! So be it.

Welcome Back Vie de Chateaux
Just to say a "Big" thank you for a great reunion with great food last night, Monday 29th June, following Covid-19 Lock down. Although we had many great meals on the takeaway menu during closed times we missed dining here. All I can say is that dinner last night was amazing. Well done to ALL working at the restaurant and embracing the new guidelines. Other diners at the Restaurant were committed to doing their part to embrace distancing and sanitizing measures. We felt very safe. We also hope you continue the "takeaway menu".

We have visited a number of times but a very disappointing service last Saturday night 11/1/20. Arrived as booked at 8.30pm, ordered at 8.42pm and received our main course at 10.10pm. Taking one of the specials, for me the food was cold and bland, sole and scallop mouse ; way too overworked; leaving little in the way of taste.
My wife had the guinea fowl which was blamed for the hour and a half wait, whilst it takes 25 minutes to cook; it came way overcooked and dry as a result.
Perhaps the real reason for the delays was the table of 6 that arrived an hour late ; frankly after 15 minutes I believe one should lose ones booking and they were down a chef.
All in all simply a disappointment from a once great restaurant.

Dear James,
Thank you for your comments. They will be considered as constructive and used to improve our service.
We are very sorry to hear about the bad experience you had on Saturday at VDC.
You are complaining about the delay getting served. We have checked our CCTV : you’ve been waiting 20 minutes for your starters. And then 40 minutes for your main course, but not 90 minutes. 30 mn for a main course would have been more appropriate. I assume it is due to a busy Saturday night and the kitchen organisation.
Regarding the food, we served the same dishes to several other Customers who were very happy with their choice?
Again, we would like to address you our sincere apologies.

From reading other reviews I was excited for my visit to this restaurant.
On Saturday the 4th of July, My partner and I booked a table of two for 9pm.
Mussel starter was fine, looking forward to main course (Veal beef) which ended up taking 35-40 mins, ok no rush. When it arrived it was dry and seemed like it had been sitting under the lights in the kitchen for a period of time. Had to ask for my partners to be reheated once I caught the waiters attention.
Vie de chateaux is obviously a good restaurant, the reviews suggest that. I hate to complain, I’ve worked in this business before and I understand it can be difficult to please everyone, but I was genuinely disappointed with not just the food but the service, it’s not cheap and I expected better.

Finally we got the chance to experience VDC restaurant which were very excited as it was a special family celebration. On arriving the interior and atmosphere is very inviting but after we were seated we were served by the most rudest, unfriendly, obnoxious waitress I have ever had the misfortune of encountering, no welcome, no hello, just stood in front of us and frowned awaiting for us to order.
I reserved judgement but then the cutlery was was slammed on the table and from there on the the unpleasant manner of our waitress continued throughout the night. We couldn't get her attention to even order drinks, bread, etc...
The toilets were an absolute disgrace and especially during a pandemic, there was no toilet roll, the bathroom floor at the sink was completely littered by the paper napkins for drying ones hands with the small bin open and overflowing there was nowhere to dispose of them. I looked in the bin to be greeted by a baby's dirty nappy, this was 9pm at night when did even they last check these toilets??
Now the food, it was delicious the mains did take over an hour to arrive so be prepared to wait. When we were leaving after paying a hefty bill, there was no goodbye, thank you, good evening, was everything to your satisfaction, etc... from any of the staff.
When the whole experience of a place doesn't marry i.e. service, food, cleanliness and drinks it just doesn't work and in our experience made for a most unpleasant visit that was supposed to be a special occasion. We did advise VDC of our issues to which we have received no personal reply and at this point there is no need for them to reply to this review to try contradict my findings and the experience we had in their establishment.

Had at ask for a sharper knife to cut my fillet steak…very tough which was rather disappointing. A slightly sharper knife was furnished rather than addressing the problem of why did I have a tough fillet..was cooked medium well rather than medium rare..There was an odour in the restaurant like an issue in the toilets tonight….unpleasant. Smiling is nice by the way , it can help the atmosphere and make us feel welcome rather than a burden. Food and wine fine but disappointing for the price.

As a rule of thumb I don’t leave bad reviews. I understand and appreciate all that goes into running your own business. However, after a lot of internal dialogue, I have to post this. First things first, Anca who works in this restaurant is top class. Frank (the owner) based on my experience does not possess the same emotional intelligence or customer service skills as Anca. He is lucky to have her. I booked a room for my child’s christening a number of months ago with Frank. He clearly doesn’t have any organisation skills because the date that I booked, and he agreed to, was booked for a staff party. I only found this out because I called into the restaurant to go through the menu etc a week before my baby’s important day. It was then that Anca informed me this was not possible. Obviously I was panicked and upset as I didn’t think I could get an alternative venue at such short notice. I had guests coming from abroad and I had told them about this great French restaurant that I had dined in before. Anca pulled out all the stops and offered to open the premises for me. By then I had sourced another restaurant. It speaks volumes for me that the man that I agreed the date with, and the costs, decided not to call me to discuss this fiasco or to apologise. He has ensured that I will never give him my business again, nor will I recommend his restaurant as an establishment to have a professional and relaxed experience. It’s a big thumbs down from me.

Had lunch with my wife last Friday, setting outdoors very well set up. We went for the daily special fish menu,. The fish was beautifully cooked but the rest of the plate was disappointing: 2 croquettes potatoes, 5 peas, overcooked dried up celery. All this for an exorbitant price of €25 per person. Last visit to this restaurant even though I am local.

Exceptional fine dining experience. Visited for first time in December with family and will be back. The service was really friendly and excellent. The steak was beautiful. Liked the tempranillo house red. Catered very well for veggie diner by cooking up a request for him. Restaurant very intimate.

We wanted to have a fine dining experience, in spite of season for Christmas meetings. We decided to try a new place, on Sunday evening. In Vie de Chateaux on Sunday there was no option for an evening, but late afternoon, what worked perfect at the end. There was set Christmas Lunch on offer and also a la carte. They were not similar to anything that was listed on their website, but we didn't mind. We've chosen dishes from both parts and each of them was delicious and very well presented.
We appreciated the atmosphere, only when a the end of the room someone's phone started to play music, we realised that there was no music in the restaurant, no laud conversations, so there was no noise. And it was nice.
We are planning to come back.

I went here with my friend. It was a treat for a special occasion as it’s pretty expensive. The menu is limited to 3 starters and 3 mains and then a couple of specials. The combination of ingredients are interesting but work. The food was gorgeous and the presentation was the beat I’ve seen. It was quite cold in the outdoor area but the manager explained that they have plans to make it warmer with new canopies very soon. Well worth a visit for a special occasion.

Being in Naas, I've visited many times as it has been my favourite restaurant for years. Unfortunately, vdc has been trending downward for some time to the point that, following last night's meal, leaves me thinking I'll give it a miss from here.
Steak served very overcooked, nobody came to ask if all was OK so didn't have an opportunity to inform staff, served with watery mushrooms and thin sauce. Wine bottle was kept away from the table, which is great for space, but kept needing to get it myself to fill glasses. Nobody at the table was overly enthusiastic about the food. It was all fine, but vdc used to be far above everywhere else. Now, only their prices are far above everyone else, the foods about the same.
Bouchon is a better experience in Naas for the same price.

I was here on a busy Saturday night with few friends. The food was amazing. The fish of the day was so fresh and had so much flavor. The dessert were some of the best I've ever had.
The staff were just amazing, so professional yet so friendly at the same time.
Thank you and see you soon
