Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Old Yard is a beautiful place. The outdoor dining is second to none and the food, all freshly prepared is delicious. The cakes are scrumptious, every single different cake. I know because I have probably tried every variety they have made and there are...a lot. The staff are so friendly and efficient and they make you feel so welcome. Bonus for dog owners…you can bring your dog with you.More

The service here is unbelievably slow. We have been here a few times since The Old Yard opened after lockdown. On three occasions we left because the queues hardly moved and tje service was so slow. If you have the time to hang around it's...worth the wait but the slow service has put us off coming again. They need to get more service staff or review their service process to make customer waiting times more acceptable. People are happy to wait a bit longer on account of lockdowns and to support this business but even so wait times are far too long.More

I visit the Old Yard every time I’m home with my family and if I could give it 10 stars I would! Myself and my entire family love this little haven so much. The food is delicious, coffee is great and Una and the staff...are so incredibly kind and nice! If you’re in this area, you simply have to visit as it’s truly wonderful to sit out and enjoy this magical place. In addition to food and drinks, there is a lovely shop with lots of nice foods and interiors focused items, with lots of good gift options. I can’t wait to visit again soon!More

Could not visit today as mask was required to walk through their shop to open air restaurant. Staff in shop wearing visors not masks !!!!!!! Exit in open air not allowed to use this no queue at time. Very disappointing as have visited this establishment...many times.More

The Old Yard, is a excellent place to visit, for the coffee, cakes and especially the sausage rolls. The staff are always friendly and it is always good to see Rupert roaming around. I only have one problem, and that is not something the staff should...really be dealing with. And that is the parking, people just park and do not think of others, see picture, maybe some cones are needed. But I'll still visit for the coffee.More

The Old Yard never dissapoints. The food is absolutely delicious and is all cooked fresh on the premises. The vegetarian options are really tasty and the coffee served in Nicholas Mosse mugs is very good also. If like me you enjoy cakes and/or scones you...will be spoiled for choice. The problem is deciding what to try ! Believe me, they are all good and the variety is great which is important if you go there regularly as I do. If you like to combine shopping with food then you won't be disappointed with the shopping there, from antiques to children's clothing and soft toys and goodies to take home with you. The staff are so friendly and efficient, they make you feel very welcome and you feel like they appreciate your business. I must also mention Pizza night every Saturday, pizza and wine never tasted so good. The Old Yard is definitely a 5 star +More

Had a very enjoyable lunch. Staff friendly and service good. Enjoyed the sausage rolls and salad with chutney. Busy little spot with a very relaxed atmosphere..Not so keen about dogs roaming freely about where food is being served. The shop area is interesting. Overall it...was a lovely experience and will visit again.More

Having visited the Yard on several occasions both lunch time and for Pittza at weekend night this place is breathtaking. It is beautiful. The atmosphere is unique and especially at night time in the darker surroundings is awesome. It is so tranquil and relaxing. The...food is out of this world and indeed surpasses some of the so called " top restaurants " Lunches is fantastic and beautifully presented. The cakes are to die for....out of this world. The coffee is first class. Then we come to the Pittza which is out on its own. The owners and staff are exemplary. So friendly and helpfull and you are never rushed. Everyone who has visited with me are in awe of the Yard and what it has to offer both Cafe and shop.More

We happened on this charming place, The Old Yard, whilst out for a drive from Kilkea Castle. It’s between there and Castledermot. It looked interesting from the road so we called in to look around. A neat antique & curios shop , along with some...nice local foodstuffs. While looking around the converted farmyard I noticed a pizza oven being fired up and made enquires. A pleasant gentleman told us Saturday night was pizza night and it would be best to book if we were interested. We did book & yes I recommend you do, as the restaurant was almost completely full later. Food from that wonderful outdoors pizza oven & Service were spot on, and then a charming hostess told us more about the farmyard conversion which was very interesting. A very pleasant evening spent here.More

The Old Yard Cafe/Restaurant is a truly wonderful hidden gem located between Castledermot and Kilkea. We attended on a beautiful sunday morning for breakfast during the summer and just recently attended the Pizza Night on Saturday. On both occasions our trip was a beautiful experience....All the Staff are very friendly and helpful. All the food is cooked fresh and is absolutely delicious. The Old Yard has such a warm welcome feeling with a lovely ambiance. It is a very relaxed experience. I would highly recommended and will definitely be returning again.More
