We decided to drop in for lunch on our way to Electric picnic festival in nearby Stradbally hall. We had lovely coffee to begin then moved on to roast chicken with chips and roast garden vegetables for Dave and fresh fish with the roast garden...vegetables and creamy herb mash for me. There was an extra dish of vegetables delivered instead of my creamy mash, but it was sorted out with good grace and no extra charge incurred, something that was perhaps initially lost in translation. We unfortunately had no room left for pudding but they looked really good, fresh and inviting.More

I’ve visited as part of a family group several times over the past weeks and the food is lovely (though portions are small for the price). On each occasion, we waited between 5 and 10 mins after arrival to be noticed by staff behind the...counter. Serving staff were all very pleasant - but service was slow and haphazard. Each time, we had to remind staff we’d ordered drinks/coffee/dessert several times. Beautiful place, but improvement needed!More

Despite being a beautiful venue , service continues to be an issue whenever we visit the green barn. We are local to the area and love the menu and venue , however we are always hesitant to go , yet are willing to see if...it will be better this time. Upon arrival we entered and stood waiting to be acknowledged for around 10minutes. We had two small kids , attempting to keep them engaged while we waited to be acknowledged. A couple behind also waiting , commented “ they mustn’t want our money”. The owner passed at least 3 times without even a hello. Staff passing yet no one making eye contact. I had to interrupt a staff member after 10minutes waiting to be seated or even a hello , asking can we just sit anywhere or will someone come ??? We were told to continue to wait and join a queue where people were paying. While waiting patiently, around 15minutes passed by now , we were next, until the owner decided to engaged with people 3 places behind , and check them in before us . I’m have never felt more annoyed, and if I were not out with the family for brunch I would have left. Thankfully upon staying the service improved however that initial “greeting” would leave you with a sour taste in your mouth. Please improve on greeting and acknowledging your customers upon arrival.More

Visited here in March for a Mother's Day treat with family, looked a really nice place to eat and came recommended. Went through the menu to see what allergens they was using and my wife ordered a burger which she felt safe with after checking...the Allergens listed. After a couple of minutes of eating the burger her mouth and throat started to swell. We called over the waitress to see if they had put any nuts in the burger. She went away to speak to the chef who had informed her that he used nuts in the pesto which he had put on the burger & that was NOT stated as an allergen on the menu for a number of dishes. The waitress asked if my wife would like a drop of water or tea to "wash it away". This would not have helped. A Chemist close to where we was staying had an additional Epi pen on standby if it was needed & was more concerned than the Restaurant. We left to return to the place we was staying, my wife by now was quite distressed, started vomiting & shaking. Our Son has been in touch with the Restaurant & at no time has my wife received any kind of an apology from the owners. Our Son was offered a discounted meal & told the Chef had been sacked. Some training for staff would help. The next person might not be so lucky. Disgraceful.More

All homegrown seasonal Irish food and excellent wine selection. Make sure to make reservations with staffing limits we were lucky that they could take us without a reservation.

I had lunch here today, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious. I had the pate for starter, and the fish pie for main. Definitely would eat here again. Thank you

We had lunch here after reading reviews and it didn’t disappoint. The restaurant itself is lovely. The menu was great, so many choices. We went with the seafood chowder and the green burger, both were delicious and the portions sizes are very generous. Definitely worth...a visit if you are in the area.More

We recently got married, choosing Burtown House & Gardens as the venue for our celebrations. It was one of the first and best decisions we made. We had wanted a venue that would be intimate, provide us with a personalised experience and a relaxed ambience....Somewhere that would make our day special for us and more importantly for our guests. We also wanted a venue that would be memorable. James and all the staff were with us on our journey right from the start, showing flexibility, patience and delivering on our many requests. They couldn’t have been more helpful and reassuring about all the important decisions to be made. The grounds are large and stunning, with blooming gardens and varied cozy niches, a diverse setting (great for wedding photographers) and relaxing for guests. The lovely surroundings contributed in no small part to the relaxed vibe we wanted for our reception. The food was spectacular and the Green Barn, where we ate, was everything we were looking for. We can’t recommend it highly enough, especially for anyone considering something a little different. Meet James, eat there and you won’t look past Burtown House & Gardens. It is an incredibly special and unique venue and we can’t imagine we would have had the same wonderful and memorable experience anywhere else. Excellent food, great staff wonderful place to lunch and visit gardens. Also the lodges are superb and we will be back to stay over.

I had my first visit here yesterday, which co-incidentally was their first day reopening for outdoor dining. I had booked in advance for breakfast and we were given a lovely table on the terrace. The tables were nicely spaced out so I felt nice and...safe. They have a good number of outdoor tables dotted around the garden. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious! Service was not super fast but in fairness it was their first day back open so totally understandable! The setting is really lovely and I would love to return and eat inside when it is possible to do so. The little market outside was also a nice suprise and the deli shop is very well stocked with treats. Highly recommend a visit here.More
