We just ate dinner here, and all I can say awesome. From the start we were greeted by friendly mask covered smiles and attentive service. The menu is very extensive but yet fresh good food is served. We had the mushrooms and brie to start....Delish. And we had the seafood hot pot for mains... Wow. Unbelievable taste and freshness. Our server was Sinéad, friendly girl good people skills and very responsive to our needs throughout. I would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant and hopefully we can return in the future. Great job guys.More

Had dinner with my family and looked up a menu online in which looked very reasonably priced. Arrived at the restaurant and there was no main course under €23 and this only included one of the following ONE "baked potato in tinfoil" OR veg OR...chips OR salad. You had to pay extra for veg. I ordered the salmon and prawns with one baked potato no veg included. Very disappointed. Would not go back again and would not recommend. Highly overpriced.More

With this corvid 19 situation it is great to find a good restaurant with outside dining. This restaurant appeared to follow all health rules with servers wearing masks ( not visors) and well displayed entry and exit channels into the main restaurant. Of. Ourselves hand...sanitisers were available and tables afforded social distancing. Food was very good with plenty to chose from on the lunch menu and of course nice seafood options. Restaurant is situated overlooking the harbour with plenty of car parking available nearby.More

Have recently dined on 2 occasions at the Pier and can highly recommend it for welcoming staff, great service, food quality and the serious commitment to patrons safety in these uncomfortable and anxious Covid times. Hope to return shortly

Having heard about the pier head and from following their social media page, we decided to go and see what all the fuss was about. Our meal was top class from start to finish. On arrival we were seated by the window with beautiful views...of Galway bay. Their Covid guidelines were top notch and the service was excellent and prompt. I had the Brie for starters, the fresh hake and finished with the wonderful pavalova. My husband had the brie, an excellent steak cooked perfectly with pepper sauce and the chocolate brownie for desert. Overall it was a wonderful experience, 5 stars and more. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Will definitely be back. Wonderful food, drink, views and atmosphere!More

We decided to go to the Pier Head for lunch midweek after checking out their website & seeing an interesting lunch menu - boy were we sorely disappointed when we arrived. The menu we were given at 2pm did not resemble anything like the one...on the website. There was no main course cheaper than €22 on it -for non fish eaters there was only chicken & about 4-5 fish dishes with one of them being €26.95. On the lunch menu on the website there was a choice of salads, sandwiches & mains. Some of the mains were priced €12.95 - €14.95. One of the difference that stood out to me on the website was the following... PIER HEAD SEAFOOD CHOWDER. € 6 . 95 DEEP FRIED MUSHROOMS Served with garlic mayonnaise. € 5 . 95 On the menu we were given the chowder was €7.95 & mushrooms €6.95. Does this “Lunch” menu exist or because it was holiday time are they trying to trap tourists? Shame on you Pier HeadMore

Hello Sampler 1, In response to your scathing review we offer you the following explanation: 1. Like all restaurants, we have had to adapt very quickly to an unprecedented pandemic situation. After being closed for 4 months we re-opened under very strict Covid-19 guidelines. We...More

Each week we try go somewhere different to try new places with the staycation. Having had two bad meals recently in linnanes & morans we hoped we would be third time lucky. We did a big of research this time and decided to go to...the pier head in kinvara. It’s about a 40 minute drive from salthill. Just to be aware road work on road and can get caught up a little. It’s a beautiful setting right by the pier. On arrival we were welcomed by a friendly man who promptly seated us to our table by the window which we didn’t expect but go after asking. The first thing you notice they are on top of COVID regulations with everybody wearing masks, plenty of hand sanitizer around and extremely clean around. Nice to see them on top of this as lot of places are not. The service is so friendly and servers are very experienced & knowledgeable on the fish with any questions we had. We had chowder & deep fried Brie for starters and for mains we had sea-bass & the hake special. Couldn’t fault one thing and fish was cooked perfectly. We declined on desserts as were very full. Have to say was 5 stars and will be back again soon and highly recommend.More
