We visit Roundstone every summer with our family and Vaughan's is our favourite place to go. We eat in the bar most days for either lunch or dinner and the whole family loves it! The welcome you get form Diarmuid and the team is always lovely and the staff are so friendly to our children and recognise them from previous summers. The bar itself is cosy and comfortable and there are lovely benches to eat at outside on a nice warm day. The views are amazing and there is a playground across the road where the children can play while you finish your meal. As for the food, chef Siobhan is a magician! Every meal is gorgeous and our only difficulty is deciding which of the wonderful options to choose from every day. The chowder is delicious and full of fish. The seafood salads and platters are generous, fresh and tasty. And the steak, fish of the day and other bar food options are always gorgeous. Our kids love the food too and have plenty to choose from. They talk about Vaughan's all year! Best restaurant around - if we could give it 6 stars we would! Delightful food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. The perfect way to start and end a day in gorgeous Roundstone!

We popped into Vaughans for an evening meal when staying in Roundstone. We had had a very wet and windy day out in inishbofin and were cold tired and hungry. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was relaxing, the smell of fresh cooked food was so appealing and the staff member that greeted us was an absolute gem of a lady. Neither of us eat seafood but there was so much choice for us too, my partner had lamb chops I had chicken curry. The food was fresh and presentation was lovely. The staff members went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, prices were very reasonable I even topped it off with banoffee pie which was delicious. Definitely 10/10 for everything

Friends suggested we include Roundstone as part of a trip round the west coast of Ireland, and finding Vaughan’s restaurant for lunch was an added - and unexpected! - bonus. We ate on the terrace outside and the sea bass was just wonderful, beautifully prepared and a generous portion to boot. Our waitress was helpful and welcoming and we would have no hesitation in either recommending this restaurant or indeed returning on a future visit. Thoroughly enjoyable!

We popped into Vaughans while in Roundstone today (having spent a most enjoyable one week stay in Clifden). I just wanted a coffee and our children some minerals and made a point asking staff if it was okay that we weren't getting food and they were fine with this. Once our drinks were served we noted all tables had been taken up outside and when we went to take a vacant table inside the front door we told by staff it was taken. I waited 5/10 minutes standing at the bar (bearing in mind wearing a face mask as not seated so unable to drink my coffee) and when I asked staff at the bar I was told to wait for a table to become available ( there was free tables in another section of the bar not in use and the area closed off) We went out side stood at a table that had no seats and no canopy. When it started to rain I moved my three children and I inside to the hotel reception area ( again where there was a further two free tables) only to have the owner/manager ask us if we were residents as the reception area was for residents only. I kindly told him we were served drinks in the bar, told to wait outside for a table to free up in the rain. I purchased drinks and intended on drinking them with my family in and out of the rain. We did dinner in O' Dowds restaurant up the road later this evening who had friendly staff, amazing food and generous portions. Vaughans I hope the sun keeps shining for ye as without you have little else. When your footfall eases off remember it was staycation Ireland that kept you afloat

We popped in to Vaughan's quite late in the afternoon and were happy to find the lunch kitchen was open until 3pm. We had excellent open sandwiches, very fresh prawns and smoked salmon, well dressed and fresh salad and tasty bread. We will certainly stop there again when we are in the area and ensure we have more time to enjoy the food or even stay at the hotel.

Our best meal during our trip. We were seated at a lovely table overlooking the Atlantic. Staff were very friendly & attentive. For starter, I had scallops served on black pudding & apple - very tasty. My main was monkfish & it was very nice & was served with fresh vegetables & roasted potatoes. Dessert was blackberry & apple crumble with ice cream.

Vaughan's dining room is always top of my list when visiting Roundstone, it has been a family favourite for years and it never fails to impressive. The extensive menu has something for everyone, the scallops and black pudding starter and monkfish main, are firm favourites. The stunning views add to the experience. With an extensive wine list and delicious food at great prices, Vaughan's is a MUST if visiting Roundstone. The pub food is also a great option for informal dining and child friendly, the fish goujons, open crab sandwich and chowder are next level!

Siobhan and Diarmuid serve great seasonal locally sourced food that rivals any restaurant in County Galway. From the fab scallops to the lamb shank you can't go wrong. Highly recommended so book in advance.

Went to this restaurant for coffee and cakes. No effort made to clean the table after the previous users. The cakes were not nice. We asked to use the toilet. Was told that there was no toilet available at the restaurant but that there was a toilet at the Community Centre across the road or alternatively we could use the toilet at the pub nearby. Went to the community center only to discover that it did not open on Tuesdays. At the pub there was a sign saying that the toilet could only be used by customers of the pub. The pub owner was unhappy that we were directed there by the restaurant. Overall, very annoying and not a way for the restaurant to treat its customers.

We spent a week in Roundstone and after a few days of trying the local restaurants, we ended up coming here pretty much every night. Not because the others weren't good (they are!), but because the fish of the day here was delicious every time we had it (including hake, seabass and cod). Great service and welcoming staff add hugely to the experience. Half portions available on some of the dishes for kids too.

We had tasty fish of the day, well cooked. Kids enjoyed their Cajun wrap and chicken. Despite of large portions we gave a chance to a Bayleys cheesecake with homemade Rhum and raisin ice-cream : lovely ! Nice place for a lunch break.

Such a lovely and cozy restaurant. We appreciated that the staff let us linger and savor many different items. The dining room is old-fashioned and comfortable. The food was wonderful, and my daughter was delighted with the dessert plate that featured 6 kinds of different miniature desserts. We also stayed at the inn here and had a comfortable, clean room. The breakfast the next morning was plentiful and very high quality. Would have liked to explore the whole area more as it is beautiful and close to so many interesting things.

Stunning!! Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Service excellent. Beautiful menu. Crab claws and duck salad delicious. Rack of lamb so fresh and tasty, scallops so fresh as was the Turbot in orange butter. Well worth the trip and will be back again. You can see there's so much effort put into the food but it's not overdone with flavours. The fresh produce is allowed to shine through with careful consideration. Staff excellent! Well done

Subtly elegant yet comfortable and casual. Service was excellent. They stagger reservations but don’t turn over tables so it does not feel rushed. Food tasty and well presented and prepared. The sorbet palate cleanser was a nice touch. The view and atmosphere can’t be beat. We liked it so much we ate there two out of our three nights in Roundstone. It was heartening to see the owner setting the pace and working hard along side the rest of the staff. The bar side also has a vibrant, traditional feel. This is a don’t miss restaurant for seafood with a modern flair.

The fish was excellent but what lets restaurants down is the chips. I'd rather have a handful of small homecooked chips than a bowl of frozen ones. The fish chowder was divine. I'll be back but would rather have a baked potato than frozen chips.
