Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I ordered the fish and chips which turned out to be battered mackerel. That was a first and not what I was expecting . If you left the laces of your boots dangling over the pier in Kilronan you'd catch a mackerel. It was overpriced...and served in a basket. I would have expected better out of the side of a van at a Fleadh Cheoil. It was a lovely day so sitting outside it was a nice location with a good pint of Guinness which was required to wash down the oil from the fish and chips. On a positive note they did have a funny menu sign outside. "Alcohol" because no great story starts with a salad... It's a pity their menu and service wasn't as memorable for the right reason. Waitress was very chatty, so much so we had to ask for cutlery and condiments. So pleased with her performance she took a 10% tip without even asking. We won't be back.More

We went to this restaurant for lunch with six people; four children between the ages of seven and twelve and two adults. First of all, the girl’s bathrooms were disgusting. Two cubicles, one sink, no mirror or proper soap dispenser, instead just a dirty bottle...quarter filled with soapy water. The hot water tap was scorching from the second it was switched on. Worst of all, the second cubicle had repulsive diarrhoea in it that by the looks and smell of it, had been left there for more than a day without being cleaned up. For food we ordered two portions of calamari, two portions of breaded chicken, one tomato soup, one chowder and one thing of chips. The calamari was undercooked, rubbery and stretchy. The breaded chicken was alright but the chips that came with them were completely covered by paprika. The tomato soup was definitely just tomato passata and water. The chowder cold, lumpy and gross in general. The bowl of chips was, again, covered with paprika and when a new one was ordered they were dry, overcooked and this time covered in salt. All in all, food arrived quickly, suspiciously quickly in fact, but dirty bathrooms and terrible tasting food.More

The food was awful. Fish and chips, burnt and poorly served. Dirty drinking glasses and the table top was filthy. Service was poor and on the level of a truck stop. Extension cords stapled around door frames and hanging loosely in doorways. The menu has...absolutely no connection with anything local. The mens toilet had no paper towel to wipe your hands. The toilet seat does not fit the bowl and is hanging on with one fastener. The toilet roll holder collapsed into my lap when I teached for a square. The island is beautiful, don't ruin your by eating here!More

Awful food and service. We were told to sit wherever we wanted but had to ask for menus. Had to ask for extra ice because the iced teas were hot. Fish and chips was greasy and came served on a basket; goats cheese salad had...4 insignificant pieces of cheese and paid extra for 4 equally small pieces of chicken. We were scared to even ask for deserts. They add an automatic 10% tip on the bill which we found dubious. To avoid.More

We ordered a couple of pizzas based on a recommendation from the bike rental, and they were great. The vegetarian pizza was great. Loved the crust!

We were staying on the island for a friends birthday! We booked the BayView for their birthday celebration dinner and had the best time! Maria was our waitress and really made the experience so special! She was so attentive and took so much time with...one member of our group who had a lot of allergies. Lovely food and the staff overall were great! The frozen margaritas were a real standout and we even came back the following evening to have a few more! If you’re staying on the island this is the spot for a nice dinnerMore

When we travel I ALWAYS check out reviews before booking hotels and restaurants and when I saw some of the more recent negative reviews we had decided not to go to the Bayview. But after passing it two evenings in a row and seeing that...it was packed we thought it must be worthwhile investigating , so we booked dinner for our final night on Inishmore. Well we had our best meal on the island, with excellent service and there was a great atmosphere. We were baffled by the negative comments online . The lobster ravioli was to die for according to my other half . Lovely friendly Spanish girls served us , Guatemalan manager was so helpful and efficient . Yes it’s the more expensive option on the island but in this case it was worth every cent. What else can I say , we will definitely be back. ( the only advice would be to cheer up the outside with some flowers or fairy lights , make it look a bit more welcoming ).More

Really disappointed with food.Visited on 23/06 for lunch. Was really looking forward to a wholesome bowl of chowder but unfortunately it arrived to the table cold with a burnt taste. Naturally returned same only to be presented with a half bowl of scalding BLAND unseasoned corn...laden liquid with two pieces of fish on their second offering,at the overpriced cost of €10.50. My husband had the fish and chips, oily fish batter and overdone and at €19.50 overpriced. Avoid at all costsMore

We had intended to order pizza to takeaway but they weren't making them on the evening we visited so instead we got 2 x fish and chips and 2 children's portions of chicken goujons. It was €72 for the lot. Salad was supposed to be...included (which we double checked when ordering) but when we got home it wasn't in the box. Gratutity is included automatically, even for takeaway. I've attached a picture of the fish, the portion was tiny- use wedge of lemon for reference of size. Overall we felt completely ripped off. Would not recommend.More

I had to laugh when my wife showed me the Bayview restaurant Instagram page - "you eat with your eyes first"! Both of our lunches came served in chipped and cracked bowls that belonged only in the bin. Such a lack of care and pride....Building is very shabby inside and lacking TLC. Wires and extension leads trailing everywhere, paint flaking off dirty walls, tired metal cutlery containers that were very grubby and filled with floppy napkins and the cheapest condiments possible. Chowder served in chipped bowl, came out cold. I sent it back and it was microwaved to death and sent back out to me in the same shabby bowl. Served with cheap white baguette, not homemade brown bread as 99% of places in Ireland do. Bread was toasted - I'm guessing that was to hide that it was probably stale... Wife's goat cheese salad also came in a big chipped bowl with cheap white bread. Staff seemed unsure if cheese was the local goat cheese or not!? A pretty simple question I would have thought.... WARNING - 10% tip automatically added to the bill! Strange policy and very sneaky. How about earning tips through good service and quality food instead.....?! The owners should be very embarrassed. Location is the only positive that I saw during our visit. Avoid.More
