Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Poor service, poor overpriced food and waited 25 minutes for a bill. Staff not responding to customers. I would not recommend this pub for food quality, value or service.

After years drinking and eating here since it opened sad to say place is going downhill rapidly second time back since indoor dining is back and have to say last time so many problems where to begin No dress code lots of teenagers in grey...tracksuit bottoms and runners on a Saturday night very intimidating in large groups, no door staff to marshal them. No Covid cert checks just a free for all ,2 kids playing football in smoking area at 9.30 on a Saturday night, 25 minutes wait fir drink order then gin served in a 7up glass, toilets filthy early in evening.food was just ok when used to be great, could go on and on seems the management are only interested in making money back as quick a possible by letting anybody in very uncomfortable night arrived at 7.30 left by 9.45 paid €140 between 4 so sad it was or local and loved it won’t be going back for long timeMore

Where to begin..This used to be our local pub and about ten years ago we spent at least one Sunday afternoon a month here enjoying the carvery. Then it went downhill so we left and I haven't been back since. But last Sunday we decided...to give it a go as the outdoor section looked nice. We took our seats at a table and couldn't find a waitress so I went up to the bar. The bartender ..a young guy wasn't very nice and complained that I was ordering from the wrong end of the bar!!! I asked him for a drinks and food menu and was given two lamented sticky cards that had never been cleaned ever!!!! We waited back at the table for to order food but we couldn't catch a waitress even though the pub wasn't too full. The food arrived and was good then it came time to Ardersier a second round.....trying to catch a waitress is like trying to see bigfoot....impossible. the crowd were over the top loud and a lot of people were quite drunk at 3 o clock in the afternoon!!!! When some guy with a dog on a chain puked near us we called it a day. Horrible experience.More

Decided to pop in today for lunch. The waiting staff were very friendly and efficient (thank you Mariana, Katie & the chocoholic Marieta lol) I had the steak (medium) it was cooked to perfection the best steak I have had in a long time. (Thank...you Raoul) Dessert was the American style chocolate cake. One word …..delicious (see pic) To finish I had a calypso coffee which I couldn’t fault (thank you Shane & chloe) All in all I thoroughly enjoyed it and will most definitely be back.More

Arrived at the Pennyhill last week, I asked about GF meals, the waitress was very helpful, seemed to know a little about GF, but there were only 2 options, i went for the ribs, in fairness they were very nice. So was passing again this...week, asked the waitress, a different one, about GF meals, again, this time i was told just the ribs really is all i can have. Ordered them, then was told actually they are not GF. This is something that Coeliac,s find so annoying, staff not trained correctly. also, the menu, its has all the allergens with numbers at the bottom, but the meals have no numbers beside them, so whats the point!! Its not that hard to provide some GF options surely !!More

Refused entry based on the fact that my husband hadhad enough to drink, even though we had come straight from our house and my husband was at work all day,not a drop of alcohol passed his lips. The fact we had not been out together...in over a year made the whole thing even worse. Obviously not that much finances have been lost if they're refusing a married couple looking for a quiet drink.More

Food was lovely, however chips were very disappointing, two baskets of the scraps of the end of the bag, yet we paid nearly €3.00 each for them! As we left after we had paid our bill may I add, a girl came running after us...outside and had the cheek to ask us had we paid our bill. Highly unprofessional and disappointing. Will not be backMore

Well. A nice Surprise. Dublin 2020 and a nice lunch special consisting of a Chicken Panini with side salad and chips for under a Tenner!!! Served well by nice, unfussy, helpful staff. Basket of oddly cut chips with a reasonably sized flatbread panini with nice...filling along with a side salad all on a wooden breadboard. Been looking for a reasonable lunch venue with a good selection of food. Found it!! and will be back.More
