Had the wedding of our dreams in The Anglers Rest last weekend. We booked our wedding after being in The Anglers Rest for dinner and the Wedding Showcase was taking place upstairs. From start to finish every interaction with everyone there was super, especially the...wonderful Agata. The cosy, country chic atmosphere, the sensational food and the incredible staff make for the dream wedding venue and we cannot thank everyone enough! We had half of our guests travelling from abroad for our wedding and had never been to a venue like it before, it really is a special place!More

Lunch menu on internet is not available. Actual menu is different and more expensive. Great location, great building and good atmosphere inside and outside. Some live Irish music while we were there. We did have a problem with waiting for our food, seems we were...forgotten about after giving our order. After an hour waiting (and reminding) the food finally arrived, it was good but small portions. So hungry at that stage we ate too fast, finishing in a couple of mins. A bad experience today overall because of the delays and waiting very hungrily, which we paid handsomely for. Without the delays its a really great place that we enjoyed very much previously.More

Family night out for 10 people. Table was booked for 8.30pm, were seated just after 9pm. Apart from 1 person, everyone order starter. 1 starter was served and the rest were served approx 20 mins later. Main course served after 10pm. Ordered a 2nd bottle...of red wine which we had to ask for it twice. Food was just ok. Chips extremely dry. No veg with the steaks. Dessert menue could have more options. Toilets very bad. Small and filthy. Will not be going back and would not recommend.More

Ate here on 2nd Jan for the first time since before Covid. I ordered the Hake which they didn’t have and seems they haven’t had it for a number of days. I changed my order to a starter portion of Crab Claws and Prawns with...fries. The crab claws and prawns came in a bow with a liquid like soup. I have never seen crab claws as small and the prawns were very bland. I thought they were over priced at €20.00. My husband had fish and chips which was nice. Service was slow but the staff were friendly. Food is definitely not of the same standard pre CovidMore

Having cooked for the family over the Christmas period I was really looking forward to having a nice meal out. The decor was lovely, really festive. Unfortunately, that's the only positive thing I could say about the night. We were a party of 10 and...only 4 thought their starters were good. My son and I opted for the mussels which we both found tasteless. Also the way they were served was strange, it was cumbersome and the brown bread was hidden under the bowl. Unfortunately the hake wasn't available, even though it was on the menu, so I opted for salmon instead. Frankly, it was so overcooked it was inedible. It was completely dry and tasteless. The sauce was dried around the edges as if it had been heated in a microwave. The leeks were practically raw. And to add insult to injury, they forgot to put the mash on the plate! We eventually got the attention of a waiter who went off to get the mash. About 10 minutes later it arrived, it looked as if it had been thrown into the bowl as half of it was hanging over the side. All in all, a complete disaster! The others in the party fared slightly better but only slightly. The general consensus was that the food was mediocre at best. We spent €535 which would have been fine if the food was good. One of my sons and his fiancee were thinking of having their wedding here but after this experience, they've decided against it. It's a pity as it used to be such a nice place to eat. Not any more I'm afraid. Very overpriced, poor quality food. Definitely won't be returning.More

Christmas decorations and the fire on made for a lovely late lunch! Brought our friends here that jetted in from Portugal and they were dying for a pint of Guinness and a cosy place to have it. We had seafood chowder, chicken caesar salads and...fish n chips, washed down with creamy, cold Guinness! Lovely place but my only quibble was that they're not great on Gluten free options which was disappointing. Would like to see more of a choice next time we go there.More

My Wife and I were married at the Anglers Rest on October 22nd, and it was absolute perfection, the venue is a beautifully rustic, warm and welcoming building, from the moment we had chosen to wed here up until today the staff have been a...delight, I cannot commend or priase highly enough the work that was put in by Agata, Deirdre and and Betty. From our food tasting to the big day Agata was always available with a helping hand and a huge smile, Deirdre and Betty exceeding our expectations with the decoration of the room for our reception and service on the night, the food was of the fineist quality and we are still receiving complments from friends and family. There was not a single complaint or issue raised by any of our guests, quite the opposite in fact. We will of course be returning for dinner in the near future. We would like to thank all of the staff at the Anglers rest for helping us celebrate our big day and for all of the exemplary work, professionalism and for making us feel like family. It is truely a day we will never forget and we are so glad we picked the absolute best spot to start our journey into marrage together.More

I attended a wedding reception here on 1st Oct 2022. As someone with a serious fish allergy attending a reception at a fish restaurant caused a certain nervousness on my part, especially as I don't like making a fuss. However, from the minute I arrived...I was put very much at ease by the attentiveness of the staff to my situation. From the first person I met at the door who took my concern very seriously reassured me that veg would be served on the plate (which avoids cross contamination risk of sharing veg bowls) and brought me straight to the person overseeing the wedding, who in turn made sure the chef was informed and checked in on me a number of times during the evening and also told me about the gluten/dairy free desert option available without my even asking - it really meant I could relax and enjoy the occasion. Thank you all so much!More

Called in for dinner on a whim remembering tasty meals I had here pre-Covid. The food was ok although served much too hot, but the service was abysmal. In an almost empty restaurant I was seated in one of the worst seats (one of the...few tables for two) even tho there were just two couples in the whole place. Worse than this I was parked way too close to one of the other tables instead of using the space to seat us at equal distances apart for our comfort. The chairs are so flimsy and uncomfortable! Super cheap! This makes the dining experience very uncomfortable. There seemed to be a frantic air about the place even tho there were hardly any customers. A good place let down by lack of attention and disengaged staff. Avoid.More

We had our wedding reception at The Anglers Rest last Saturday, September 24. To say it was outstanding in every single way simply doesn't do it justice. The venue is rustic, cosy and intimate. The wedding co-ordinators Agata, Deirdre and Betty, Ollie, the bar and...waiting staff, all excellent. The food, oh wow it was ahhhhmazing. Three choices for starter, main course and dessert absolutely fabulous. The ceremony room to the side is so cosy and intimate and just really lends itself to a picture perfect wedding. We also had the band Playlist who were talked about long after they had stopped playing. Thank you so much to everyone in the Anglers Rest for making our day a truly memorable one, your professionalism is exemplary.More

I recently visited the Anglers Rest for dinner with a group of friends. The surrounds were beautiful, the food was excellent and a lovely relaxing atmosphere. But this wasn't our highlight. Our server made the night for us. A fantastic young lady called Kaysha. Nothing...was a problem. She was so warm, welcoming, friendly and funny. She made us laugh and we all laughed together. We wanted her to pull up a seat and sit with us for the evening. The Anglers Rest and the hospitality sector is lucky to have this amazing lady working for them. Thanks Kaysha for looking after us so well and making our night. We are still talking about you. We will return in the not so distant future and hope you will be working the same evening.More
