Normally a great place to dine. One of the few places downtown that will actually take a reservation. They seated us swiftly in front of 20 plus people that didn't have reservations on a Saturday night around 8. We tried the Buffalo Blue Cheese appetizer. Really a mess unfortunately. We actually thought a lot of the stuff would be on... More

I have eaten here many times over the years, the food is great, the service is solid, the location is great. The menu has twists on southern classics that are very well done, and it doesn't seem as hard to get a table as other near by restaurants.

Fantastic salmon - pork chop stayed too long on the fire. Fried green tomatoes were good as were the crispy brussel sprouts.

I really enjoyed the chili as a starter. I tried the tilapia which came with green beans and potatoes. The tilapia was good but didn't like the potatoes. I should swapped the sides with something else, maybe next time.

My wife and I ate here one day last week and really enjoyed it. Very large quantities of food, good craft drinks and great beer pricing. Our server was spot on as well. We enjoyed after dinner shopping in the area as many shops are within walking distance.

We went lunch and had to start with the ubiquitous fried green tomatoes - very good. Then we had a regular lunch of salads although my husband had the shrimp and grits. All very good, nothing over the top - the menu has some interesting appetizers and the dinner menu looked good as well. Server was good, although we did... More

While the service was excellent, the atmosphere good, the food was not. Meat loaf that was highly recommended by the waitress was dry, and while the waitress and then the owner tried to make it right by providing another plate, just wasn't very good. I don't know how you screw up a grilled cheese sandwich, but they did. Not crispy... More

This is a nice place that serves some local comfort food at a trendy setting in a cool part of town. Menu prices are inexpensive for this type. If Open Table says the place is booked, call like we did and make reservations.

Cafe 4 entered the downtown scene almost a decade ago, truly becoming a pioneer in Knoxville's substantial urban revitalization. Unbelievable to those who have only seen Market Square in its enlivened state, downtown Knoxville was anything but desirable at the time of Cafe 4's founding. The restaurant was birthed from a desire to bring light to a dark place, and the transformation that has taken place since has been truly remarkable. The front doors open up to the restaurant and a cozy mezzanine bar that is frequented by coffee drinkers, cocktail lovers, conversationalists, and passers by. The back of the building is home of The Square Room, an elegant space used for concerts and events. Swing buy for a cupcake, a cup of locally roasted coffee, or have a seat at the cafe. You're sure to be greeted with southern hospitality and urban taste.
