Lots of good barbecue in Memphis. Very competitive market for pork ribs. I , so far , like this one the best. I prefer dry rub pork ribs and these are really good. But barbecue is very subjective. I have been to only four of the major barbecue joints they have in Memphis and there are quite a few left... More

Food was great, service and staff was awesome, small space with limited seating, good but limited beer menu. Definitely recommend and will return.

Returned to Germantown Commissary this time with two colleagues from India who “have to have Memphis BBQ.” It was cultural moment. For dine-in lunch, we enjoyed half-order of ribs, BBQ shrimp and Grilled Chicken Breast Sandwich Friendly, attentive wait staff. Prompt service. Seating is NYC-tight. They handle the customer volume well. Alcohol: Beer & Wine only Small Gripe: No draught... More

We were last here about 5 years ago. Drove 8 miles from our hotel to try it again, and we're not disappointed. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a seat on a weeknight, but food was served almost immediately after ordering. My wife and I split a rack with 2 sides, and had plenty to eat. It was... More

Took the advice of locals and went here a few years back. I'm writing a review now because it stuck with me and I recently met someone from the area and it reminded me. At the time, the parking lot was small but, it is an old house which answers for that. The food was INSANE! I'm from Texas and... More

Once you're seated, food will arrive swiftly. Plenty of interesting items to keep your attention while you wait. If you're able to set skepticism aside, order the nachos. Criticism aside, they trump both the pulled pork and the ribs (which are both quite savory). The pork-infused beans and warm chips were our favorite sides. A bit glum that we weren't... More

We have people come in to our business from all over the South and they want to eat Bar-B-Q. We always take them to the Commissary. Shoulder, ribs, sausage or tamales, everyone we have taken to the Commissary wants to go back. On our last visit we took the reps from Crestron. Everyone left full and satisfied.

This place is always delicious and typically packed. Get there early if you want a seat quickly or order at the counter and take it home.

Very busy for such a small place! I had the pulled pork and it was very good. Had to try the homemade tamales with chili and cheese...loved it!
