Eating at the Mangy Moose is a great place to relax, have some great food, adult beverages and people watch while sitting curbside.

Nice western style restaurant, tex-mex, interesting food. Spartan service, but at least efficient. Didn't like so many smokers in outside restaurant area. Smoke ruins food taste.

Very slow service. Sat for at least 10-15 minutes before anyone came to take out drink order. Nice outdoor space along downtown but service is way too slow.

Sturgis rally 2016. Not a large crowd at all at this place. Service is non existent if you are not sitting at the bar. This is a great place to sit and watch the street traffic. But once again, been here two times before, could never get a food order and finally had to leave and go to another restaurant... More

This is a very casual place with a limited menu, and mostly bar food. We just had drinks, and I ordered a Bacardi, but not really sure what I got, as it had some weird flavor to it. We sat at the counter that overlooks the street, so it's fun to chat with the locals and watch everyone go by.... More

The food was not the best, I have had better there. The big dog my husband ordered was cold & not real fresh. One out of 5 waitresses were nice looking, hint had teeth, boobs where they belonged, and didn't have missed spelled comments across her rear end!!! I know it's biker week but come on!!! The band we seen... More

Food was good. Too many flies and the service was on the slow side. It was Sturgis week, but could have been a little better.

My wife and I stopped several times during our stay in Hill City. We never ate and only had drinks. The service was a little slow but they were very busy. It’s a great place to stop and cool down during a ride through the Black Hills.

Description
Mangy Moose has been owned and operated by a single woman for over 20 years. We spent those years becoming the best bar in the southern hills, and offered your typical bar menu of burgers and appetizers. We have grown to a place that sells burgers, Mexican food and a great ribeye steak on the outdoor grill. Our cooking facilities are minimal and it is sometimes difficult to keep up with the high volume of hungry customers. Our food is good and most things are made fresh from scratch, but we have the most square footage on the block and a lot of steps to get food and drinks for the hundreds and hundreds of people that stop by each day. We love to have you visit the Mangy Moose and have a good time, but if you are in a hurry... you may sometimes be disappointed in the wait. There is usually live entertainment on the outside stage to enjoy, with a full liquor bar. Please keep in mind that we are doing the best we can with the facilities and staff that we have. We are a BAR with a limited menu, that happens to sell food, and not a RESTAURANT that sells alcohol. Everything on our menu is good and we have specialty foods that you can't get at any ordinary restaurant. If you are in a hurry and looking for a large menu, we are probably not what you are looking for. But if you are looking for a great place to sit on the outdoor patio and people watch, or a great place to enjoy a cocktail, a beer, or a glass of wine and have a bite to eat... you won't be disappointed.
