We are gluten free and the gf menu was really lacking. However, the server was great to tell us that they could broil or blacken any fish. Lunch was fine. None of the 6 in our party were thrilled but we all enjoyed the atmosphere.

We go to SDC every time we visit HHI and we love the atmosphere. The food has skyrocketed in price and it is really not the tastiest. I would vote the food as just average. Our waiter is hands down the best on the island...More

We come here many times, every time we come to Hilton Head. Good food, good drinks, outdoor eating with live music . The gift shop has the cutest stuff for people and dogs! Always a great experience.

We went here with our adult daughter and sat at the bar. Great conversation. Great Food. The staff here was spectacular. Had Mahi fish bites, scallops, shrimp, shrimp/lobster roll, and a chicken salad. Everything was good.

Fun friendly place. Good food, if a bit expensive ($75) for 3 for lunch. But you go for the experience. Take a deep breath, enjoy the sunshine and a cold drink! Then, go buy a shirt!!!

The first time visiting the Salty Dog I wasn't impressed. I thought I would give it a second chance because maybe they were having a bad night. Nope, again it just didn't live up to the hype. It's a great area and the setting is...More

We have been visiting HHI for years and have never eaten at the salty dog. We were pleasantly surprised at our experience! It was rainy out, so we ate inside. The restaurant has great views of the marina and an extensive menu. I got a...More

We have visited the salty dog cafe a few times, it always provides a good quality meal. My only negative is service is rushed, due the the immense amount of people waiting for tables at peak times. The servers are multi national and on this...More

I don't recall any specifics on the menu about being gluten free, but they were very accommodating in general and there were plenty of gluten free options from my recollection.

My wife and I went to Myrtle Beach about 10 years ago and had hush puppies that were unlike anything we could get in Ohio (we have more "savory" hush puppies around us and all we knew)...we went to a small seafood joint and were BLOWN AWAY by the hush puppies (which were more sweet and served with a sweet cream butter). We then had a few other hush puppies (all in the same vein...sweet) and loved them. Ever since then, we'll ask people and restaurants about hush puppies that are sweet and either they look at us like we're crazy or they say "yes our hush puppies are great" and they bring them out and they are the same old thing. :( Literally, 10 years later, we've not found anywhere that does hush puppies like that area of Myrtle Beach. Then we went to Hilton Head and the Salty Dog and it was like the clouds parted and the angels sang as we bit into the sweet, fluffy hush puppies! I am astounded that we seem to be the only people that are focused on these hush puppies...I can't find other locations that do them or recipes that replicate or people that even know what I'm talking about. I was beginning to think we were alone in this; then I saw Kayla's review and feel just a tad vindicated. Is anyone familiar with these hush puppies and know where we can find similar styles?
