We stayed on Edisto Island for a week and ate here three times. They were one of the only places that also seemed to stay open later on the island when we were hunting for somewhere to eat at 8:30 at night. We first came here for lunch and then dinner another night and on our day leaving we stopped... More

Grits are really good. Mahi mahi was okay. Crab and shrimp bisque was okay as well. Nothing spectacular for the price you pay.

Whaley's is famous for its owner, who still bartends after many, many years. It's also famous for its food. There's not a lot for a vegetarian but I was very pleased with their veggie burger.

Huge portions, outstanding service, delicious food, and watch out for the gator at the front door!!! Might have to wait a bit for a table, but it's worth it.

Whaley's would have to be elevated to be a dive. Having said that the food is really good and the service fine. I had a seafood boil that was just right for me. My wife had crab cakes and brought one home, which I had later for dinner. It was good also. Drinks were reasonable priced. The place can be... More

Good food, drinks and local color. Flounder dinner was great with homemade chips. Shrimp & grits was pretty basic but very good.

We were iffy on eating at this place when we first walked in. It looked like a dive bar, but the food is fantastic! We had the prime rib sandwich with home made chips and I want to go back again and have the exact same thing, it was that good!

Came into town late (9:30) and they were still open on a cool Friday night . Food was perfect I recommend the sushi nachos! If you are in Edisto and don't try Whaley's you haven't Experienced Edisto!

The seafood selection is great and the food is too. I ordered the 2 combo basket with shrimp and scallops. The scallops were the best I ever had. They were cooked perfectly. The waiter could have been a little friendlier but the quality of the food made up for it.

Whaleys is among the top 25 dive seafood bars in the US. Such a fun atmosphere. Lots of people, many locals. Had the fried shrimp with home made potato chips (they call raw fries). Truly a gem and very reasonably priced.
