We seldom miss a chance to have lunch at Basil when we are in Charleston. In our most recent stop, we sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen, a new treat for us. Because the usual lunch crowd was thinning, we took the opportunity to ask the server for some special additions to our order. Not only was she happy... More

We travel a lot, and always try to fit in at least one thai dinner wherever we go. This restaurant looked promising......fantastic Kings street location, open kitchen ( behind glass) with seating great for watching the chefs cook. The service was flat out awful, right from the get go. The kids working were very pleasant ,but in the nearly 2... More

Visited because we love Thai food. Nice atmosphere, good menu. My wife is usually able order steamed veggies w/o spicy sauce and we tried that here. Our server, Kelley, did not want to be bothered. If it wasn't on the menu that was that. After we asked she coped an attitude and we didn't see much if her the rest... More

The Shrimp Hot & Sour Soup was really good but the Larb wasn't as good as I usually have elsewhere... (PS. Not all places do have it thou) The Entree's where good but it didn't thrill me (For Example the Pad Thai and Curry's) On the positive side they got a few craft beers which is the way to go...... We just flew in and wanted to eat really good food without having to wait too long. We were lucky. Their food was the best Thai food outside of Thailand.

The night started off with making reservations at 5:58 after they told us it would be a 40 minute wait. Once it had been 45 minutes I asked how much longer it would be. I was told 10 minutes. After waiting an hour and 20 minutes we were seated. We did not even get our appetizers until 8:02. The food... More

This is a local gem! Everything is excellent here from the perfect martini, to the wonton soup, dumplings, curried anything, to fried green tea ice cream. This place is consistently tasty, and best to slip in before 6:30 PM or you may wait; however the wait is WELL worth it

Love this little Thai Cafe. Very nice menu with many options. Location and set-up has a trendy cafe vibe. Our service was very good from start to finish. Four people in our party and we tried various curries. All were very good. Enjoyed the large "community" rice serving for the table. Prices seemed reasonable and fair to our group. Important... We had to wait over an hour for a table. We did not know Charleston was this busy. When we finally were seated, we were served quickly. The food is very good but a little pricey. Is it because it is Charleston? I was warned restaurants were expensive. I would easily recommend this restaurant but make reservations first.

Some of the best thai food we have ever had. So much flavor. We waited 30 minutes for a table and it was well worth it. Veggie spring rolls were tasty and fresh. The basil chicken dish was superb. You can ask for brown rice for $1 more. Service was good.
